We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Larsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catherine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve worked as a professional photographer since 2015 and over the years, I’ve experimented with all kinds of photography—weddings, portraits, families, you name it. Each one taught me something different, but boudoir is what truly stuck with me. It felt the most personal, the most powerful.

Starting this business came from a mix of passion and purpose. I realized boudoir was about so much more than taking beautiful photos—it was about creating a safe, affirming space where people could reconnect with themselves, feel confident in their skin, and walk away feeling empowered.

Once I saw the impact these sessions could have, I knew I wanted to build something that wasn’t just a business—it was a mission. I wanted to offer more than images; I wanted to offer transformation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is all about helping people feel confident, seen, and powerful through boudoir photography. I’ve been a professional photographer since 2015 and explored many styles, but boudoir is where everything clicked—it felt purposeful.

What sets my work apart is the emotional connection I build with each client. These sessions aren’t just about photos—they’re about transformation. Getting here wasn’t easy, but I followed what felt right and stayed consistent. The biggest lesson? You don’t have to change to be worthy—you already are. That’s the message behind everything I create.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d start the day with breakfast at First Watch in Arvada—my go-to spot for a cozy, delicious start. Then we’d hop on the light rail for a fun ride into Olde Town, wander through the shops, and grab coffee at a local spot. In the afternoon, we’d take a scenic drive to Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder for those unbeatable mountain views and some quiet time in nature. We’d head back to Golden for dinner at Stone Cellar Bistro, one of my favorite hidden gems with incredible food and a relaxed vibe. It would be the perfect mix of local favorites, good conversation, and Colorado beauty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt, my shoutout goes to my husband. He’s been my biggest cheerleader from the very beginning—encouraging me to chase this dream, reminding me of my worth on the tough days, and celebrating every win, big or small. His belief in me, even when I struggled to believe in myself, has been the foundation of this business. I truly couldn’t have done this without him.
