We had the good fortune of connecting with Raven Faber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raven, what do you want people to remember about you?
I’d like to leave behind a legacy that encourages people to live their truth, to always be their authentic selves, and to go after their dreams with everything they’ve got. A legacy that reminds people that it’s okay to be loud and passionate about what drives them and that it’s perfectly fine to go against the grain. A legacy that supports openly standing up for what is right however uncomfortable it may be. A legacy that champions using whatever platform is available to you to fight for change, justice, and a seat at the table. A legacy that instills courage and conviction in your mission and cause. A legacy that helps others to learn that self-development is a lifelong journey and that it is through this work that a deep sense of self-confidence and inner peace may be found. I hope to lead by example as it would be a privilege and an honor to be remembered for all of these things.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own and run two businesses: EngErotics specializes in the design and development of intimacy devices as well as the formulation and manufacture of CBD infused intimate body care products while Faber Anderson Development and Design specializes in structural engineering, design, and land development. I’d say that both companies stand out quite a bit on account of being Black-owned, woman-owned, focused on inclusivity, and determined to disrupt the status quo as it currently exists within their respective industries. Getting to where I am today has been a journey full of peaks and valleys. It hasn’t necessarily been easy but I wouldn’t say that it’s been overly difficult either. Make no mistake, the entrepreneurial path isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s most definitely a path that gets rough at times. I have found that by embracing the challenges and recognizing that they are going to be present whether you’re ready for them or not, I have been able to meet them head-on with determination, creativity, and tenacity. There’s no need to fear the unexpected when you’ve already accepted that it is a part of the process and I think that this is one of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned over the last several years. There are a great many things that simply are not in your control and they likely won’t ever be. You can only do the best you can with what you have and/or what you’re given. Once you’ve learned and accepted that, you’ll be much better off. I always love for people to know that making an impact while influencing positive change is very near and dear to me. I believe that one should use their platform to advocate for others who may not be able to advocate for themselves as well as to help level the playing field within our society. This is something that’s deeply ingrained into my each of my businesses as I didn’t create either of them simply to make money. I founded them to spread a message and to change the world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie, so I like my friends from out of town to experience all of my favorite restaurants. Tommy’s Thai, Curtis Park Creamery, Frijoles Colorado, and Busaba Thai are just a few of the many restaurants that I’d consider to be favorites. Most people in Colorado enjoy a good brewery experience and I’d say that Avery Brewing Co. never disappoints. No one should miss out on a night at La Rumba in downtown Denver and, of course, you’ve gotta make time to spend time in the mountains.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my loving husband who’s never stopped supporting and encouraging me on this journey, my children who challenge me to be the best version of myself every single day, and to my friends and family that have been cheering me on along the way. I’d also like to dedicate this shoutout to my team across both of my companies who have given me the advice, constructive criticism, support, and expertise to stay the course and to stay focused. I’d like to thank the other founders and entrepreneurs that I’ve gotten to know along the way for their love, support, and guidance. It’s been truly helpful.
