We had the good fortune of connecting with Rowan Van De Mark & Sophia Schooley-Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rowan Van de Mark & Sophia Schooley-Alvarado, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My business partner, Sophia, and I chose to pursue an artistic career because creating art brings so much joy and a sense of magic into our lives. It’s more than just a profession—it’s a passion that fuels us every day. Through our work, we’ve found a way to share what we love most with the Colorado Springs community.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is character performing. There’s something incredibly special about stepping into a role and seeing the sparkle of wonder it brings to children and families. Those moments of joy, imagination, and connection are what make our work so meaningful. We truly love being able to create unforgettable experiences that inspire smiles, laughter, and lasting memories for the families in our city.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Sophia and I share a background in dance, film, and theatre. From a young age, we dreamed of finding a way to become professional actresses and storytellers. Through Fairytale Fable, we’ve discovered the perfect path to bring that dream to life—doing what we love most, every single day.

We’re incredibly grateful and excited about the positive response we’ve seen from our community. It brings us so much joy to know that we’ve created something people genuinely enjoy and connect with. Performing for the families of Colorado Springs has been a truly rewarding experience, and we’re thrilled to continue sharing our passion for the arts with the community we love.

At Fairytale Fable, we’ve learned that one of the most precious things in this world is a child’s sense of wonder and belief in magic. We wholeheartedly believe in nurturing that magic—creating enchanting, unforgettable experiences that families will treasure for a lifetime. It’s an honor to play a part in making those magical memories possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A must-see for me is Garden of the Gods and the museum area nearby—especially learning about the locally discovered dinosaur, Theiophytalia kerri.

After that, I’d recommend stopping by my favorite ice cream spot: Rita’s on North Academy Boulevard. They have amazing Gelati that’s definitely worth trying!

I also suggest picking up a book from our local Barnes & Noble. It’s such a cozy place to grab a coffee and spend some time reading.

Lastly, I highly recommend enjoying afternoon tea from Tea & Tidbits. They’re a newer company, but their tea options are absolutely divine!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d like to give a heartfelt shoutout to our beloved friend, Celeste Tice, who taught us everything we know about running a princess business! From wigs and costumes to advertising and so much more, Celeste has been an incredible mentor and support system. She played a crucial role in helping us get started in the industry and was instrumental in lifting our business off the ground. We’re so grateful for her guidance, generosity, and friendship.
