Meet J.EX | Emcee/ Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with J.EX and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J.EX, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I don’t know how to give up on something like my rap career or reaching personal enlightenment in life. I’ve gotten to a point in life that I want to be better in life and grow

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an emcee, rapper & song writer. What separates me from others is the fact that I am one of the few that truly possess the essence of Hip-Hop. Me being from the Bronx is an advantage but as an emcees I hold skills and work on being a great artist and wordsmith. My music is east coast style hip hop but I am also versatile in style of hip hop I do. Professionally I have been active for a year now and what I did was get myself in places and events that have to do with hip hop (Open Mic, Tournaments, Music Events) anything to get me seen or heard. It wasn’t until I started my partnership with Derrick Deleon (Be Great) becoming my manager. Since then we’ve been making moves from going to New Orleans for a radio showcase with 2hot radio. I’ve opened up for Dave East may 4th at the Roxy. I also was in 2 battle rap tournaments presented by Body Bag Battles Battle league out here in Colorado. This hasn’t been an easy journey, many ups and downs but it has been fun and exciting. With my team I was blessed to also build a family with them and friendships of great people wanting to be great. Having a sense of family, people who take you accountable when you’re wrong and also motivate you to do better wether they’re moves and actions or incorporating you to make moves to greatness. Well me J.EX I’m going Afro Latino American male from the Bronx and the Poconos Pa that wants to share my story, my thoughts on music and to entertain the masses. I want to make you cry dance smile laugh be in shock.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since being out here in Denver and Colorado I’ve gotten to explore and go to places I had a great time at. Places to eat is Dae Gee Korean BBQ, Viewhouse, Top Pho by me in Aurora. Great Scott’s is one of the top dinners here for after the club or event vibes. Hiro Japanese Buffet is a recommended to try. Mister Oso and Bar Dough are great places to go. The mountains is a great place to go hiking. The Denver zoo and botanical gardens are awesome. Ball arena events is a thing to do. Beats bodega with Face Defeat every Thursday is a thing to do. Hooked on Colfax has an open mic called Come Be Dope with Rian or Deuce every 3rd Saturday. Orchid nightclub is great to go to at night. Yo Moms House is a great place to catch good shows and events. The Casino and concert at Red Rocks is also a dope thing to do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out God first. Sending my mom in heaven for making a god of the earth. Shout my management team, Revelation Media, Derrick Deleon, Tabitha, Pjay, Demetrious. Brandon of Guud Karma. The Hometeam Collective (Rian or Deuce, Bo Jack, Ju Diezel, Face Defeat, Etc). My people back home. My lil brother AZ Onyx. Trilla, Larz, Romey, Philly Rodger’s, Yuske Vacant, RIP Dot, Jugger, big bro Ronnie.
