We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Lea Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi christy Lea, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I think balance is a moving target. Sometimes you are in the flow and others it is pure chaos. Since I have been striving to be balanced for 22 years within my business, I am learning to enjoy the times in the flow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started CLP Jewelry as a jewelry brand selling to catalogs and brick & mortars across the globe. As time has marched on, I have dabbled in other mediums besides jewelry, opened two boutiques, created, shopped, collaborated and sourced from travels. I think our long lasting clients who have become friends and CLP’s brand evolution sets us apart. One of my many tasks is focusing on “what’s next?” Sometimes this is challenging. What do customers want, how do they want to spend their money and how can we support these opportunities. Getting here was easy’ish. Staying here is a different story! I am still learning lessons from pausing, numbers don’t lie and focusing on enjoying the ride. I want people to walk in and leave with something they did not realize they needed. Whether it is a charm necklace that speaks to you and where you are at this moment in time, permanent jewelry to signify a milestone, a new artist you have never seen, a treasure from a far away place or the best candle you ever inahled!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The home that Zach & I have created is our sanctuary. Seriously, I could be trapped here for a few days and not leave. However, when I leave I love to get in nature. Hit some trails and get mentally lost. Red Rocks for a show is always in the Summer rotation. This Summer I discovered yoga at The Botanic Gardens and this has been dreamy. Some of my favorite local shops who happen to be owned by fantastic female entrepreneurs are: Confia Collective, The Perfect Petal, Gem Hats, Birdsall and Rogala Design. I think my favorite local restaurants right now are Alma Fonda Fina and Kawa Ni.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am thankful to so many people who have been my side on this journey. My husband, Zach, friends, customers, other female badass entrepreneurs and longtime employees. I always say “it takes a village”
