We had the good fortune of connecting with Rouan Kruger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rouan, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learnt is to be flexible in your approach to solving problems, setting goals or learning from failure. When you have a rigid approach to achieving something often you can get frustrated if that approach doesn’t work. As long as you stay focused on the end destinatio, even if you have to change your approach, that is the key to building momentum.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think Cape Town in South Africa is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Visiting the Victoria and Alfred waterfront is amazing. You can also take a boat to Robben Island and visit the prison cell where President Nelson Mandela was locked up for 27 years a political prisoner. If you enjoy wine tasting, South Africa had beautiful wineries near Cape Town in Stellenbosch and Paarl. If you feeling adventurous you can go cage diving with great white sharks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been many mentors and books that I have been inspired by, however Brendon Burchard’s High Performance Habits is an excellent book for people who have felt overwhelmed by the need to constantly perform at the highest level, but deep down they are frustrated and near a breaking point. Brendon’s book is a guide to being productive and not having the fear or anxiety of burnout.
