Meet Jane Fineberg | LCSW, Practice Owner, Clinical Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Fineberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jane, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I began my career in mental health more than 20 years ago, following what I thought was a traditional path—strong undergraduate and graduate training, thoughtful supervision, and a commitment to clinical excellence. Early on, I was fortunate to receive an education that emphasized process over content: learning how to think critically, stay curious, and translate that curiosity into meaningful growth.
Over time, I intentionally have sought roles and supervisors who challenge me—encouraging depth of thinking, creativity, and continual development. After more than a decade in solo private practice, I saw an opportunity during COVID to expand access to high-quality care while creating a training environment for new clinicians that reflected the formative experiences I had received. Starting the practice allowed me to integrate these values: serving the community, supporting client growth, and taking part in cultivating the next generation of skilled, reflective mental health professionals.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our work is grounded in the belief that strong mental health is the foundation of a thriving community. We provide accessible, high-quality care while fostering a culture where our team thrives, grows, and learns from each other. What sets us apart is this dual focus: we prioritize excellent clinical care for clients while supporting professional development and collaboration among our clinicians.
Building a group practice hasn’t always been easy. Challenges have required persistence, problem-solving, and learning from mistakes. In striving to increase access to care, we have grown, navigated the insurance landscape and alternative payer sources, improved our systems, and worked to support clinicians while protecting against burnout. There have certainly been growing pains, but the process has also been stimulating and growth-producing. Every time we hit a bump, we emerge stronger—both as a business and as clinicians. The very adversity we help clients navigate reminds us to approach our own challenges with empathy, recognizing the effort and resilience required.
I’m most proud of the people who make this practice what it is, and the clients who entrust us with their mental health journeys. Together, we are creating a practice and a community that is thoughtful, resilient, and deeply committed to making a meaningful difference.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The incredible JFC Team—and the clients who trust us to partner with them on their mental health journeys—are at the root of everything we do. Every member of our team, from our clinicians to our office manager and interns, brings intention, creativity, and dedication to the complex work of supporting mental health. Each person contributes something unique—skills, perspectives, and insights that are different from what I could bring—enriching the practice and expanding what we can achieve together. This practice simply could not exist or thrive without them, and I continue to learn and grow because of and alongside them.
I also want to acknowledge the mentors, supervisors, and colleagues who have challenged me, shared their wisdom, and encouraged me along the way. Their guidance shapes my approach to care, teaching, and leadership, and continues to influence how we grow as a team and as a practice.
