We had the good fortune of connecting with The Maverick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The, why did you pursue a creative career?
“Environment and experiences have had the most impactful influence on my creative endeavors. From music and writing to acting and performing.” The critical reason why The Maverick is the creative he is; is due to the fact that both negative and positive experiences shape an individual for the better or worse. We can either crumble under the circumstances of life, or rise to the occasion. So the creativity flowing from StillSound Records and the growth to come holds no bounds. A strong why, is also what art does for the community and those it reflects upon. This scopes from youth to adults who need a break or introspective moment in a world so streamlined for transparency. Music and fine arts can be the lens of which so many people can see through clearly and through many perspectives with coherency. “Without poetry, music, and theatre there is no clue as to where as a young black male like myself could have ended up, though we can theorize. ”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an artist my view on music and performance art is expansive. As an artist and producer, what sets me apart from others is my dedication to the craft, being different in how I perceive lyricism, mood, objective versus subjective matter, peering through ideation with a looking glass that is requisite to a galaxial perspective. What sets me apart is that I am not just one-type of artist nor am I singularly stuck in that one mode of thought as a creative. The business is just as important as the ideas are so professionally we at StillSound Records know this process is never-ending. Growth requires willingness to change and adaptation to a shifting society. Every member of StillSound Records from the top to the bottom floor has defining traits that make them essential to the progress of humanity. We like to take the same approach to our profession, “What is our defining niche and how can we deliver it to you graciously?” Looking back on how we have gotten this far; reflecting on it we have consistently honed our skills as creatives and professionals. It was not an easy road, however it has been a rewarding one. We have overcome challenges by identifying the lessons learned and soaking knowledge similar to sponges, doing better practices, later nights, early days. So no matter what challenges we face, we will over come, persevere and conquer. StillSound Records and our brand want the world to know that we “Don’t give up, we give out!” and “It’s easy because it’s already done!”. Our stories have blended together for positive outcomes for fellow artists and our communities alike, there is nothing more refreshing than: relatability.
