We had the good fortune of connecting with Radhika Mukhija Sud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Radhika, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” – Anais Nin I believe we all have the power to listen to our heart – our inner intelligence – also known as intuition. The wisdom of the heart is powerful and reveals the greatest truth. Oftentimes, it’s not easy and it can remove us from comfort into the unknown. But the risk that we take when it arises from our heart’s wisdom – is the path that leads us to perhaps the most beautiful outcomes, we would have otherwise not realised. That is what happened in my life/career as I took on to risks – small and big. Some that meant leaving the comfort of my home country, credibility at work and loved ones – and landing into a foreign land along with a new relationship and new responsibilities. Had I not taken that leap of faith, I would not have been in a place to take a pause from my fast paced work life and shifted gears. Being in a new country, led me through a series of life experiences, losing my mother along the way – led me back to school and I changed my career from executive/corporate to health optimization, mindfulness and coaching- and to a path of continuous self discovery and education. One that has been revealing, intrinsically rewarding and very humbling. It thus led me to discover my life purpose.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I was born in India and raised with yoga, consciousness and meditation. As a child, I was always intrigued in the workings of the human mind and that led me to pursue my bachelor’s in Psychology. I recall my Dad’s home library and that piqued my interest in personal development early on. Reading Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of highly effective people” in college led me deeper on the self-discovery path. My former life involved hiring top management talent – CEO’s and C level professionals as an executive search consultant for banking and financial services companies across the globe. I was passionate about the intellectual stimulation in my job and loved every bit of facilitating career changes for high performing professionals. Even with achievements like being featured in a leading business magazine and having early successes – I felt like something crucial was missing from my life. I moved to the US in 2005 and after traveling across 12 countries, and made US my home. When my mom became ill, I was inspired to re-evaluate my busy lifestyle and decided to trade in pulling all-nighters and work meetings for health coaching and yoga. It all began when I got a call while I was living in Chicago, that my mom had been diagnosed with cancer. Right at that moment, I recall crying for hours in the shower and the next thing I knew my intuition led me to the bookstore. I picked up all the books I could on learning on how I could support her healing through alternate healing modalities including nutrition, superfoods, supplements and more. My research to help heal my mom, returned me to my roots and led to a deeper understanding of mindfulness, yoga and Ayurveda–and the mind-body-spirit connection. Losing my mom eventually, made me realize my life purpose. It was an organic birth to a new me. I wanted to share all that I had discovered and learnt in the process and went back to school to get certified. I took on to Yoga, studying the philosophy, and the asana practice which helped me through the grieving process that I was going through with the loss of my mom. It also led me to an understanding of healing at a deeper level of consciousness one that is beyond the physical human body but at the soul level. It was the beginning of a lifelong learning process – which is one of my values – “the love for learning” along with forming deep connections with people and being a space holder – meeting people where they are in their journey. I got certified as a Yoga teacher in Austin, and then went on to get certified in health coaching and nutrition from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Functional Nutrition Lab and most recently studied at Human Potential Institute, an ICF accredited program where I gained expertise in coaching to help others take control of their biology, master their psychology and realize their unlimited potential. After working with friends and family and helping them upgrade their lives – I founded my own coaching business Holistic Prana in 2013 in Austin. As a certified Integrative Health and Life coach, I blend ancient wisdom with clinical sensibilities including neuroscience and biohacking. I’ve had the honor of guiding busy, professionals and entrepreneurs around the world to a superior state of wellbeing, cognitive performance, and inner bliss. My approach seamlessly blends together science-based practices to improve the function of every aspect of the body, as well as resources along with accountability that uplift the mind and spirit. The results? The whole self—the whole you—operating at a heightened level of wellbeing every day, equipped with the tools to maintain it for life. I moved to Denver in Feb 2019 and have been grateful to partner with Nutritionworks of Colorado to serve clients locally in the Denver area. I work with clients face to face, via zoom and Skype across the country, have led workshops and been on podcasts and spoken at health and wellness events. My clients are mainly busy professionals and entrepreneurs who work with me to enhance their energy, improve mental performance and upgrade their lives – mind-body-energy. I love what I do and this conscious transformation process of coaching. It’s nothing short of magic! My offering is to serve and it all began as a silver lining to losing my loving Mom. I remember her fondly each day, she is the reason I am living my purpose. I am immensely grateful and honored to be able to serve my clients. I do believe there are breakthrough and magic waiting to be created with every breakdown. I have lived through this several times and it has made me resilient. While losing my Mom was a huge loss and vacuum that I struggled with for years – it also led me to where I am today. She now lives with me in my heart. Another struggle that I have not shared openly is when I moved countries from India to US. I was without a work visa for years, while that period was challenging – as I transitioned from having a faced paced successful career in India to a country where I had to wait a while for the immigration process to allow me my work visa till I could create my own business. Of course, the silver lining was I found a new path on this self-discovery process and changed careers, went back to school, and here I am. None of this would have been discovered had I not been through those trials in my life. My reality would not have been the same if I had not experienced all the struggles. It also led me to appreciate the little things in life and have gratitude for each moment and see light in each situation. Holistic Prana is my coaching business wherein as a certified health and human potential coach, I facilitate lifestyle changes with interventions that combine science-based information, techniques, and tools with ancient wisdom. I’m passionate about integrating cutting-edge discoveries from neuroscience, performance coaching, nutrition science, biohacking, positive psychology, and mindfulness. My integrative approach covers four areas: Physical – energy, nutrition, self-care, supplements. Emotional – coherence, emotional intelligence, resilience and stress reduction. Mental – clarity, focus, mindset, productivity. Spiritual – presence, life purpose. I focus on the Whole person elevation – mind, body, spirit, meeting them where they are in their unique journey. Looking at the fundamentals first – sleep, nutrition, cravings, stress and resilience, physical activity, habits and energy level. Using a Root cause framework of looking at gut health, food sensitivities, immune, inflammatory balance, detoxification, hormones, and neurotransmitters with the help of customized testing and individual protocols to find healing opportunities. I strive to make them an expert on themselves, master their minds, upgrade their lifestyle and then keep them accountable on a new path. I specialize in working with women – busy professionals and entrepreneurs. We always begin with their “why” from a state of presence helping them articulate their goals. From there we dive deep into their values and specific problem areas. The whole process is one that is sustainable and one where they benefit with lifelong changes and not just a quick fix solution. I am most proud of the successful outcomes of my clients. The most transformation happens when we co-create through the process. I hold them accountable through powerful questioning, with tools and resources and they do the work. The outcome is that they always exceed their own expectations and goals through the coaching journey which is truly transformational and fun.
