We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Gebhardt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Audrey, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
This is going to sound so cheesy because you’ve heard it a million times but- keeping a gratitude journal has helped me FEEL successful. I really believe that it’s impossible to grow without showing immense gratitude for what you already have. Every single day I sit down with my gratitude journal and even when it’s hard to think of something big I start with what I can see and feel around me- the heat in my house, the nice shampoo I used in my shower, the delicious omelette I had for breakfast. Once I start writing what I’m grateful for I can usually think of ten more things almost immediately. When we book any event I get a notification on my phone and EVERY time, my partner and I do a ‘money sprinkle’ dance and celebrate the win no matter how small.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have done a lot of things over the past decade in my career, many of them just felt like silly ‘jobs’ at the time but all have impacted the way I run my business today. When I dropped out of college and started waitressing, I had NO idea the things I would learn about hospitality and working with people of all kinds. I ended up bartending for a few years and that time behind the bar gave me so much confidence in holding my own in a room full of ‘adults’. Shortly after leaving the restaurant industry I found the coaching world, and met people from all over who believed anything was possible and surrounding myself with that energy really allowed me to dream HUGE dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week?! Well, first we’re coming back to my house and I’m cooking dinner for my friend and we’ll eat it in our treehouse. My FAVORITE thing to do is cook for the people I love. Probably we’d go out to Glenwood and spend the day at Iron Mountain Hot Springs next- there’s a great taco restaurant in Glenwood that we could have dinner at. I’d love to introduce my best friend to some of my wedding work friends out here, I know so many crazy talented and creative and inspiring people and I feel so lucky to be friends with them! Maybe we’d spend a day hiking up around Brainard Lake. I’d love to take my friend rock climbing in Boulder Canyon! Learning to do that when I first moved out here made me feel so strong.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really have to thank my partner Carl for his ENDLESS support throughout my business-building journey. He pulled off so many 16 hour workdays building Treehaus, was still really kind to me when I was freaking out about anything + everything, and believed it was all possible (especially when I was ready to give up).
