We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Lentz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
For me, it was a decision to get up everyday and be better than I was the day before. Whether that meant I worked an extra hour, I read an extra book, I listened to an additional podcast. Being better isn’t just about making money or being successful in your line of work. It’s ensuring your family is happy, your marriage is solid. You have good friendships and you’re taking time for yourself. So many times in this world we live in, we look at being busy as the baseline for success. We need to get back to your WHOLE life and happiness as the baseline, not just your net sheets.

What should our readers know about your business?
Currently, I sell real estate in the Denver Metro area. I also run a coaching business for other female realtors around the country and run a podcast called HOMEgirlsco with 3 other female agents here in Colorado. We talk to other top producers around the country and get the “behind the scenes and stage talk” story from them. I think the one thing that I can contribute my success to is my belief in building relationships, becoming friends with everyone, and making sure we are building strong community. I believe in volunteering, helping, and coming from contribution. Business for me isn’t about what can you do for me? It’s the other way around. How can I help you? How can I make YOUR world better? If I’m apart of your world, I want to know I left you better than before you knew me. I think like any working mom and wife, the challenges are balancing it all. How do you run a strong business giving a high level of customer service without sacrificing family time? The answer is simply time blocking in your calendar and setting really strong expectations with your clients. If people know what to expect they aren’t upset. I also believe with expectations and boundaries, your clients respect you more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We live in Colorado; the obvious choice is the mountains! We are so fortunate to live in a place where we are culturally diverse, we have cities that each have their own personalities and charm, we have sports teams, we have tons of outdoor activities – the options are endless. Some of my personal favorites are Red Rocks. As a Colorado girl homegrown, Red Rocks still takes my breath away every time I am there; regardless of season. Red Rocks and the westside of the metro area to me epitomize why people love living here. I recently had a group of friends from out of state come visit and we rented a house in Breckenridge during the height of the fall color changes and had an amazing time doing every tourist activity Breckenridge had to offer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh goodness, there are too many people to list but if I had to come up with a short one quickly, obviously my clients and the people who trust me EVERYDAY to help them with the biggest financial decision of their lives. My husband who supports me implicitly not matter how crazy my ideas are or what project I’ve come up with today. My best friend who has to put up with it too – JG you’re the best and one of the biggest inspirations in my world. My family – duh. The 3 other ladies who are founders of our HOMEgirls podcast that has opened doors for us that we didn’t even know possible. The list truly goes on and on because everyone in my world makes me who I am and contributes to my life like a puzzle piece that I need to be complete!
