We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Packard-Normand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Although I feel many attributing factors have led to the success of my medical spa, Aesthetics and Wellness, the one that truly stands out is my ability to connect with my patients and be in the now with them. When my patients walk through my door, I make a commitment to myself that I am present with them, listening and responding to their concerns. With this daily habit, I feel my word of mouth referrals are constant and my patient retention rate is high. I’ve been in the Aesthetics industry since 2006, and other than improving on my skills, what most patients want is someone to listen to them and understand where they are in that moment.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I began Aesthetics and Wellness in January 2019 after purchasing the business from the previous owner. I am proud she entrusted me with her own business she had spent years building, and I set out to prove no only to her but my family and friends that I can continue the success it had. I am most proud of the new patients over the last couple of years, It shows to me my current patients referrals, and my reputation in the town. For the last 3 years, we have won 2nd in The Best of Durango medical spa’s. This is an amazing accomplishment and one that keeps me continuing doing my best. I hope when patients walk into my clinic, they feel the difference that they are joining a business that truly cares about their results and concerns. The connection I hold with each of my patients is very important to myself and my staff.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Durango is such an amazing little town! My husband and I fell in love almost 10 years ago when we first visited. It is a community foremost, along with great tourist attraction. Definitely check out Purgatory Resort for a hike or ski day. Continue up the mountain for the amazing views along side the million dollar highway. Or check out the train to take you up the mountain for a special treat. We have great restaurants to enjoy, breweries, and after indulging, be sure to take a stroll along the Animas River trail walk.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Aesthetics career began in 2006 in Austin, TX managing a laser clinic. I fell in love with the treatments and interaction of patients. My path at that time did not include nursing, and my retired nurse anesthetist mom encouraged me to get a 2nd degree in Nursing. It was that motivation for me to return to school and receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This degree allowed me to deepen my aesthetic skills that has led me to owning my own business. When my family and I decided we wanted to move from Austin to Durango for a better quality of life, I found myself at a local medical spa working along side the owner, Georgia. After a couple years by her side, helping her run the Durango clinic, she made me an offer to buy the location and make it my own. I quickly saw my dreams of owning my own Wellness clinic was becoming true.
