We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Amy Wedding Planner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison Amy, what’s your definition for success?
Defining success is something that I’ve been trying to do since deciding to launch my own wedding planning business, A Bride’s Best Mate. In the small picture, I define success if we can do what we have said we will do – the couple are happy and not stressed and can enjoy their day. Bigger picture, success would be me still loving what I’m doing, and ideally making a profit and being able to expand the team even further.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I launched A Bride’s Best Mate on March 1st 2020 with my first styled styled shoot. Less than 2 weeks later, lockdowns hit and the wedding industry was hit hard. I didn’t use heart though and looked for opportunities to keep working and use the circumstances to my advantage. I was able to use the time to network, do smaller scale styled shoots and build up my social media following. Now, 3 months into 2021 I’m overbooked for the next wedding season and am filling up fast for 2021. I think this will be a good reminder to me for the rest of my life to not give up hope and to always be willing to pivot the plan to achieve the same goals. A Bride’s Best Mate is all about having fun and reducing stress, so I am very pleased that I was able to do that for myself as well as for our clients!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m Australian, so my husband and I have gotten to play tour guide many times to friends and family! Some of the places we regularly show people include Estes Park, Breckenridge and Loveland Pass. For food we take people to places unlike they can find in Australia – Casa Bonita for example is a national treasure. We also try to take them to some bbq, some burgers and Mexican – we mix up where we go so we can experience new things too. We also try to take people to some sport. Personally I love watching the Nuggets the best, but Rockies games are most conducive to chatting, hockey is so different to Australian sports and of course the Broncos is a whole event!
We also try to take people to stores that are not like any you find in Australia – like Hobby Lobby, Cabelas and Boot Barn!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to so many people in my life that have cheered for me for and encouraged me. It started with my parents who raised me to think that with hard work, I could do pretty much anything I set mind to. Then I married the loveliest man who cheers for me and makes the way easier for me to work long and inconvenient hours and listens to me tell him about the different weddings I’m working with. Ive also met some amazing vendors who have helped me, let me vent, worked with me, supported me and helped me have more fun and grow faster!
