We had the good fortune of connecting with Moonglade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Moonglade, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Because it brings us so much joy. It is important for us to express ourselves and to have a voice in a world where we are fans of many other voices.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a Denver-based band that blends pop, soul, funk, rock, and jazz styles to create an entirely new sound. The versatility of our band is a direct product of the diverse skill-sets and experiences brought to the table by each member. The five of us have all studied jazz at both collegiate and professional levels. For us, creating music is the most divine form of expression, allowing greater human connections to be made without words, and healing all who participate.

Like many other bands, we struggled to keep creating when Covid hit. We shifted our focus to recording and now feel stronger than ever as a band. We are so excited to get back out and perform!

We’re all busy, working musicians, so we do struggle to find times that we are all available to meet. However, the music we create together is so compelling that we prioritize time in our busy lives to make it happen.

What sets us apart from other bands is that we are very democratic. There is not one band leader. We all contribute to the writing and we all lead the band together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our favorite venues in Denver are: Bluebird Theater
Gothic Theater
Larimer Lounge
Lost Lake
Globe Hall
Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox
Broadway Roxy
Mercury Cafe
Oriental Theater
Red Rocks

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our original bassist, Julian Cary, was a huge influence on the band’s sound and we miss him very much. He’s now in Thailand teaching at the collegiate level. The producer/engineer of our first EP, Jared Atol, has always been very supportive of us. Our current recording engineer, Brad Smalling, has been instrumental in our recording process this year, and we are so thankful to him. We’ve received lots of support from local publications such as Westword and 303 Magazine. Head Room Sessions is another organization we’ve felt a lot of love from. We’ve also been very inspired by many many many of the local musicians in Denver. Huge shoutout to all our friends and fans that have supported us over the years by coming to our shows and streaming our music!
