We had the good fortune of connecting with Juvelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juvelly, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always wanted to sing professionally but never gathered the courage to do so. I would freeze and feel sick being on stage and the only reason I decided to go for it is when I realized that it was a waste to write such beautiful music and don’t share my gift with the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is juvelly I’m a singer and songwriter. I’m excited about the journey I’m on today of pursuing my dream of wanting to sing professionally and so proud of finally getting ready to release my first album next month. I’ve worked hard to get where I’m today by putting in enough time to get in the studio and record my songs. I’ve experienced rejection when it came to collaborations, help and just seeking connections to get more visibility. I’ve learned to be patient and don’t underestimate my self and no matter the outcome to keep going and ignore the distractions. I want the world to share my love of music and hope a life is touched.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I have a friend visiting, I would definitely take them downtown Denver first on a nice day out on 16th street mall for a shopping spree and grab a bite at my favorite restaurant guard and grace. Next destination would be going to Colorado Springs for the scenery and site seeing. We also just hang out locally in town and enjoy local food such my African food and music at chef David Diop’s food truck called the pikine grill.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my close friends, family and kids for always pushing me to keep going. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by many people who have somehow contributed to my success and my journey.
