Meet Jessica Jacobson | Owner & Founder Fireworks Chef’s Butters

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Jacobson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Being a mother of three and an entrepreneur, I’ve learned there is never a perfect balance in work and life. Priorities are always in flux and things that get the attention are what is most important in any given moment/day/week/month. I find making time on Fridays to plan what the most important things to get done in the next week really helps keep the focus on the things that matter most, whether it is work or family projects.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
For 2021, I am most excited about Fireworks Butters rebrand. We’ve been working on it since last fall. Fireworks Butters has been in business since 2016 and had been limping along with outdated packaging and branding. The Covid-19 pandemic forced a necessary pause on the business operations long enough to get that much needed branding work done. We are thrilled with our new look and how well it fits the personality of not only the products themselves but also my vision as a founder.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Boulder. I love it when friends and family visit for the first time. We have some amazing things to see and do here. The perfect day in Boulder would be spent outdoors as much as possible. A hike at Chautauquah is a must, and if we timed it right we’d end the hike at the Chautauquah Auditorium, during late June, early July to hear the Colorado Symphony rehearsing during the Colorado Music Festival. From there we’d head to the Pearl Street Walking Mall to window shop and grab a bite to eat. Our favorite restaurant in Boulder is Oak at Fourteenth. They have amazing local offerings and the most delicious cocktails and mocktails. After that we’d head to a show at the historical Boulder Theater. On another day, I would definitely head down to Morrison to hike around Red Rocks Amphitheater, take in the Hall of Fame museum for a little culture, and enjoy the beautiful views from the Red Rocks formations. Taking in a Rockies in Denver is a must. The outdoor stadium at Coors Field is a beautiful place to take in baseball. From Coors field we’d head over to Union Station for a delicious meal at either Merchantile or Stoic & Geniune. After that we’d head over to Lodo to catch a show at the amazing Mission Ballroom, or keep it more low key at Dazzle Jazz club downtown. This place has it all…great sights, great food, great music! Some of my favorite things at least…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sari Kimbell is the person who nominated me for this series, I will definitely share the love. She has grown Food Business Success out of a passion for helping CPG brands get started whether they are bootstrapping, raising money or self funding. I started working with her the summer of 2019 and she has been instrumental in pushing me to make it through the pandemic despite serious limitations in production and sales during 2020. She has been so helpful in making critical decisions impacting all aspects of the business.
