We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Konold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Not listening to anyone’s opinion, even your family’s and friends’. Trusting your instincts is the most important thing one can do, even if you were led astray and fail, it’s a learning experience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, Konold Pest Control is the 5th business I have started, so, what really sets me apart is really just my burning desire to keep pushing forward and build success. I grew up wrestling from a young age then started doing jui jitsu and other martial arts in college and I think that discipline transfers to life and business very well. The other businesses I tried were learning experiences.

None of it was easy, and its certainly still not easy! But I think it comes easier to some people. Desire and discipline are a good recipe for success. I don’t think I will ever be done overcoming challenges because once you complete or solve one problem, you always have a new, harder problem next to solve, it’s just part of life.

A word I will always remember and use is altruism. The human species (and others) are so successful because of altruism. When one applies this to business and life, there is a level of return through the connections one makes.

Currently, I, Jacob Konold, am the owner/operator of Konold Pest Control. I am a second generation exterminator, as my father owns a pest control business up in South Dakota. Based in the Denver Metro Area, my business is committed to providing the best customer service and superior pest control services because I believe in helping people and society. Nobody should have to worry about diseases, allergic reactions, lost inventory, or lost peace of mind! I provide a variety of pest control services: quarterly/seasonal pest control services, rodent control, wildlife control, bed bug, wasp, and roach extermination, and so much more. I can be contacted by call or text at (720) 405-PEST

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

– golfing at a nice course in the mountains
– local restaurants
– visit a hot spring
– fishing
– hiking
– sight seeing
– comedy clubs

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, there are a couple of people: Firstly, my dad, who is my biggest critic in life but also who taught me pest control – as he owns and operates a pest control business back in my home town. He is always there to give me advice on bids and answer any questions about killing bugs.

Second, Seth Garber, who is the founder of Pest Daily and is, in general, a magnate in the pest control industry. His advice on business and life is priceless and I cannot thank him enough for taking the time to answer my questions and produce great content in Pest Daily.

Lastly, Chad Woodard, whom I only recently met, but has helped me expand into the realm of wildlife control. His knowledge and expertise of pest control are extraordinary, as he has 33 years in the business and given 83 university seminars on pest control.
