We had the good fortune of connecting with Austen Welker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austen, how did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea behind my Fried Brand’s, (Kentucky Fried Clothing & Mile Fried Podcast) is my creative take on the 1971 Kentucky Fried Theater Troupe. I wanted to mesh art, history, life’s unknowns, UFOS, and “Big Chicken” into a parody.

With so much on copyright laws and censorship of speech now. I wanted to have a voice via the avenue of humor.

I believe If everyone smiled at the same time; the world would be a little better place.

So what better way to speak that through comedy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Whenever I am behind the microphone or creating a graphic I use parody and fun to express the world around us. I think that separates my brand from a lot of others.

I’m proud of the support and lesson’s that owing a business has taught and continues to teach me.

How I got where I’m today was by never giving up and learning from bumps in the road.

Nothing is easy or handed to you, it takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. But if you allow yourself to not let these downfalls make you quit and give up. You’ll find a better solution to that problem.

Follow a dream and it will take you as far as you let it.

As for my brand I would say we have a product for everyone.

That could be learning some crazy information by listening to my podcast or even finding your own hometown parody pride via Kentucky Fried Clothing.

I also do commission: art, podcast production, and graphic design to help other brands express themselves more!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Colorado is full of great things to do but if I had people in town for a week they have have to try out these spots:

Hike Chautauqua Park in Boulder (Its fun to sit up on the Flatiron’s.)

Mountain Bike at Walkers Ranch loop in Boulder

Breweries after working out in the woods would consist of: Gravity (Louisville), Finkle & Garf (Boulder), Vision Quest (Boulder), Great Divide (Denver), Weldwerks (Greeley)

Food joints that are a Colorado must: Waterloo (Louisville), Yelow delli (Boulder), Community (Lafayette), Atelier by Radex (Denver)

A Red Rocks show is a must!

The Colorado Historical Society Museum (Denver)

Ski slopes…depending on how hard they want to shred.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

As a Kentucky Colonel I would say my home state drives me to show a little piece of the Bluegrass through hospitality everyday. Also I would give thanks to my Masonic brothers, the aspect of charity can’t be forgotten.

But my biggest hero is my mother, who passed away of stage 4 Breast Cancer in 2016. She would be proud of me.
