We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art is a form of expression. I love being able to create photos and wedding films that create feeling when people view them. I want my couples to be able to look at their photos and films and remember exactly what they felt in that moment – so that they’ll never forget it. To me, it’s those little moments that mean the most in the end. I like to prioritize feelings and connection on a wedding day and take on an emotionally conscious perspective when documenting my couples. I’m there to capture not just what it looked like — but how it felt.

I’ve always been a hopeless romantic at heart so I’m into learning about people’s love stories and what led them to where they are today. I naturally fell in love with weddings and elopements. The emotions, the feelings, the memories – the whole experience of it all. I’m a Gemini and strong enneagram 4 – so I Iive in my feelings. Being a creative artist is just who I am.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is for those deeply in love. I believe in real moments and raw emotions. The photography and wedding films I create with my couples are intended to be story driven and evoking feeling. I take on a documentary style approach for weddings and elopements letting emotion and creative expression take over. The story is crucial. I put feelings and the story first before anything else.

I’ve been learning to lean into who I am and what I believe in. It is so important to not be afraid to do that because when you do – you attract the clients that connect with you. When the work best reflects who I am, what I relate to, and what makes me happy – in turn it allows me to give the best experience and product for my couples.
I’ve been shooting for over 7 years and I feel like I’m finally getting closer and closer to where I want to be with my work. It’s a long journey!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Great question! I’ve invested a lot in education from the start and I have to give credit to some particularly helpful resources out there that I’m thankful for.

Dawn Charles is a talented wedding photographer and educator. She has tons of courses, tools and resources on her website to help build your photography business.

Matt Johnson has the most useful content ever on his Youtube channel about filming, editing and gear. Typically if I have a question on something technical I know he’ll probably have a how-to video on his channel that I can watch and he usually gets straight to the point which I love.

How To Film Weddings has been the perfect podcast to listen to! I’ve learned so much about wedding videography and am always inspired when it’s on. I’m in Mastermind by HTFW which has given me an even deeper dive into wedding filmmaking and tangible things to implement in my business.
