We had the good fortune of connecting with Cody Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cody, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My brother and I happened to both be in between jobs. He had the idea to make some cash on the side while we hunted for new work.

This eventually grew when we realized that this could turn into something big if we really wanted it and really put our hearts into it.

He eventually grew tired of it, but I’ve always been entrepreneurial at heart. Always thinking of different ideas and plans. It really was just a matter of finding something worth the effort.

I’m highly critical of my ideas and myself, so most of my ideas don’t make it past “dreamer” stage. Friendly Mechanic just happened to withstand the scrutiny and has encouraged me to think on other ideas that may come to fruition in the future. In the meantime I fully intend to put my all into Friendly Mechanic.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Friendly Mechanic is an auto repair service provider. We are unique in being one of the first licensed mobile repair providers available in Northern Colorado.

The industry is slowing making a push toward mobile service options, mainly via the dealer. I don’t think most local shops have caught on to the trend yet.

There’s obviously a lot of services that will always be done in house, which we do intend to offer, but I believe being able to come to your customers location is definitely a selling point for us and something we intend to stick with.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think Colorado is a very beautiful place. There are very few places in the US that match our state and I’m happy to be a Colorado native.

Its really a question of who you bring to the state. We have tons of different hiking and camping options available during spring and summer. My personal favorite so far is Rocky Mountain National Park.

Winter time leaves snowboarding and skiing options, but I don’t do much of either. I’d personally recommend staying in one of the resorts like Winter Park and going tubing and snowmobiling.

Restaurant wise, my faves are Palominos in Greeley and Wapitis in Estes Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would dedicate my success to the mother of my daughter, Krysta, whose always been encouraging to my ideas even in the bleakest of moments.

And of course to my daughter, Annalaya, who is always the primary driving force behind why I get up in the morning and continue to push for success.
