We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Lucoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Complete transparency. Honesty about what we think is best for a given situation.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My partner and daughter and I own Elm Tree Living, a full service design firm specializing in custom window treatments. I have been part of the design world for over 25 years. I came to Denver with a corporate design job, and quickly realized that I missed owning my own business and taking on the challenges of business ownership. Everyday presents new projects and I think its fun finding solutions that make people happy in the space the live in. We are a women owned business that caters to families and businesses where most of the decision making tends to be made by other women. We also really enjoy working with Interior Designers, helping them with their window treatments and taking that process off their plate. There are so many moving parts when one is designing a full project. It’s nice to have another professional that understand your vision to hand off to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first off drive up to Boulder and do one of the many hikes in the Flat Irons. We would then come into Boulder for pizza and drinks at the original Pizzeria Locale. The drive up to Boulder is beautiful and its a short distance that gives one a glimpse of the majesty of the mountains we live so close to. In the evening I would head to the Mercury Cafe to see if there is live music to listen or dance to. Another place to enjoy live music is Dazzle Jazz Club, touring national and local musicians play there every night of the week and it’s always a great evening of music, good food and nice cocktails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give my sister Claudia credit for steering us towards our present focus in window design.
