We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Lowery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always had a thing for cleaning my cars at home because the public vacuums and car washes never work well so one day I decided I should start my own auto detailing business to provide exceptional car care and customer service! I own an Audi and love cleaning it up for Kearney Cruise Shows and I knew going into this I could find more car loving folks. Starting up I wanted my customers to see how much effort I put into their vehicles and how I treat each one like it’s my own. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and making my idea come to life was the best decision!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my Detailing business apart from others would be the connections I try to make with my clients. I want their trust so they know to expect 100% quality from me. I’m excited to see my business grow in the next year, I’ve been up and running for a couple months now so things are a little slow. I worked hard to get to where I am today. I didn’t grow up with money, I had to work for what I wanted and save. I’ve learned not to sell myself short. I try to make detailing affordable for everyone but I have to make sure I’m charging what my work is worth. I don’t speed to get things done, I take my time to pay attention to the details. To anyone reading this follow your dreams because there’s no reward without risk!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in a small town in Nebraska but there’s always stuff to do! Hiking Scott’s Bluff national park, Henry Doorly Zoo, downtown Hay Market in Lincoln, and hanging out at the Big Apple for some bowling! Whiskey Creek, Kyoto, Cracker Barrel are a couple of my favorite places to eat. And the bars downtown Kearney are always a nice place to hang out and listen to live bands.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my mom, Janet, for always believing in me and supporting me throughout my life she’s been a big help to me in starting my business. My girlfriend, Brookelyn for listening to all my ideas and keeping me grounded. Numerous family and friends for encouraging and supporting my small business, including my best friends Riley & Katie! One book that has helped me think differently and I highly recommend is John C. Maxwell’s book How Successful People Think a lot of good stuff in that book.
