We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zach, what do you attribute your success to?
From the moment that I wake to the moment that I fall asleep I am constantly working on bettering myself. This includes being a better business owner, contractor, husband, father, and version of myself. I work hard to be a better me. I dig deep and look at my faults and my successes. I evaluate my days and my finished products. I seek others critique and I learn and change from it all. With my company I study, attend networking groups, meet with others in my trade, shadow those who are successful, and use top quality products and tools. I work hard,
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my business with some training through my dad who has owned his own business for over 40 years. He taught me a lot, but specialized in a different area than I do. I have had to learn a lot and have had to figure out how to do this without working for a bigger company. The way I did this took time, effort, and contacts. I still call my dad regularly to ask questions. I do the same with other experts. I study using everything from educational videos to textbooks. Those licensing textbooks are long and dry, but are very detailed. I also use free time to shadow with companies that have more time and experience than I do. As I learned more over time I switched from basic materials to high quality and modern tech materials. My processes changed and became more precise. And I found high quality tools that work with precision. My company is about excellence from our communication to our product.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, wow. I spend most of my time working or at home with my wife and our daughters. Getting outdoors is my favorite thing to do here. The views are beautiful and there’s so many trails to take my dogs hiking on. Other than that you can find my wife and I anywhere showing NHL or UFC.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I learned to learn from my parents. They taught me that I can do pretty much anything instead of hiring someone to do it. While I was growing up, they taught me a lot of different skills and encouraged me to try more when the opportunities arose. My wife has also been great throughout me building a business. Sometimes, I have too work too hard disturbing that work life balance for a while, but she has been patient and encouraging through the process.
