We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tim, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I think that creating music is one of the best ways to engage both the heart and mind. Nothing motivates and infiltrates people like music can. It also has made my life feel like I rarely work! I love what I do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started leading worship at 15 years old. By 21, I was given a part-time position as a young-adult worship leader at my local church. From there I became the Worship Pastor of Canyon View Vineyard Church at 23. I also lecture worship leading principles and songwriting all over the United States through The Association of Vineyard Churches.
I love songwriting. The beauty and difficulty with it is focusing on the smallest details and deciding whether they make or break the song. Those small decisions make a song tank or fly. Over years of writing, I’ve found I have grown immensely in the craft, but am also nowhere near where I need to be.
It is not an easy road to choose creativity over profit, but I’m thankful for the road I chose as it has set me a part as a vocalist, worship leader, and songwriter.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Easy:
Best hot wings: Roosters
Best place for a drink: Ramblebine Brewery
Best place to hike and sight-see: Colorado National Monument
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Working at a church means investing your entire life into the mission and vision of something that has been going on for millennia. To bring those truths to the surface, you need to have people and leaders in your life that care about your soul, but also for you as a person. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the love and support of Pastors Tim Brown Sr., Justin Long, Jotty Kinney, Nate Ralston, Ronnie Higuera, Tim Nutting, Paul Watson, Kirk Yamaguchi, and Cory Sondrol. With their support and trust, I am able to creatively bring the Gospel in a way uniquely me and uniquely crafted to reach people others could not.
