We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim-Vi Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim-Vi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Actually, I am quite a risk-averse person!

I think prioritizing safety nets before venturing into the unknown has actually enabled me to try new things more comfortably. I’m sure it comes with its own opportunity costs, but I have yet to regret any life decisions I’ve made so far!

My “traditional” studies in Business had led me to my current work as a Data Analyst, which in turn, financially support my hobbies like painting. I am very fortunate to be able to balance my two career paths, and perhaps one day, I may decide to take the risk of pursuing the creative field full-time.

But for now, I am happy and will focus on improving myself professionally and personally.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I have been painting for many years, I am only 4 months into my journey as a live event painter and have already learned so much!

I am most proud of my determination in starting something completely new by myself, and I am extremely excited to cultivate my growth as a professional artist.

I am very fortunate to have not faced any major challenges so far, and that would have to be credited to all of the amazing clients and vendors I have had the pleasure of working with. However, it is definitely a constant learning experience.

And the most important lesson I’ve learned would just be to not be afraid of trying new things! Trust yourself and do what feels right. The rest will simply follow.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents are the sole reason why I am who I am today. They provided the unconditional support, guidance, and love I needed to thrive, and I am forever grateful to them.

I would also like to thank the live painting community for being so welcoming and generous with their expertise. They have been instrumental in my growing success as an artist.
