We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlene Janke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlene, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am an entrepreneur, I always have been. I started lemonade stands at a young age. I could sell a paper bag to anyone. I guess that’s why I thrived as a bartender in the food industry for so long. I knew I wanted to be a household name. My original dream career was to be a performer. I loved the stage and the spotlight, and this idea to have all the lights on me. Now I get to turn the spotlight to my beautiful clients. I get to make women feel like they are their most beautiful selves. I love seeing the confidence a set of lashes can bring to somebody; they just glow! I wanted to build a space where women not only feel completely comfortable, but also have them feeling beautiful and confident in their own skin after receiving a service.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician who graduated from Paul Mitchell in September 2021. My business offers lash extensions, lash lifts and tints, brow lamination and tints, head to toe body waxing, and facials. I specialize in wispy full lashes but can do everything in-between.

I am a self made entrepreneur with 2 children. I graduated school 6 months ago and now I get to live out my dream of working for myself. I have a passion for making women from all walks of life feel like their most beautiful selves.

I am most proud of my work ethic. I have never stopped from the moment I started. Having two children and trying to work full time and put myself through school has not been an easy feat, but I knew it was what my family and I needed. When I put my mind to something, I invest my entire self into it.

I worked my tail off, I am doing something for my business. You can’t stop when you are working for yourself. It’s truly a full time job.

Honestly, I have no idea how I got through it. I don’t think I would have the confidence to take this huge risk if it wasn’t for my husband. If I ever needed anything, I know I had him to fall on.

I have learned that it is never too late to chase or change your dreams.

I want people to know that anything is possible. It’s a cliche because it’s true. I don’t care how wild the idea is, just do it. If you feel like you are yearning for more, chase those dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely start out by getting early breakfast at my favorite spot, Denver Biscuit Co. We would have to order a cinnamon roll with extra cream cheese icing. Then, we would drive up to the mountains and take a hike for some beautiful scenic views. After our hike, we could end up in Golden, grab some lunch at D’deli, grab some sandwiches and walk up and down the river. From there, go home to get ready for a night on the town. Drop by Postinos on south Broadway for some charcuterie and wine. Next up, the Irish Rover bar for some dancing and drinks. Finally, Punchbowl Social for some bowling, arcading and karaoke.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give my husband, John Janke, a shoutout. He has been my biggest supporter in my journey and my career. He was the one that took on the huge responsibility of a stay-at-home dad while I went to school three days a week and worked the other 4 days. He was the one pushing me to start my own business because he knew that I could do anything. He never doubts me for even a second, even if I have the strangest ideas like quitting my full time job that I loved; to go and play with people’s eyelashes. I love you baby!
