Meet Jenni Hilker | Certified Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenni Hilker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenni, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from northwest Indiana and I grew up with six siblings, five of which are older, ranging from 1 to 13 years older! They gave me the greatest gift I could possibly ask for; the gift of watching them live. One married young and built a beautiful family, one got his MBA and climbed the corporate ladder, one lived abroad for multiple years, one quit college to follow his career and then went back later because graduating was important to him, and one built his career ensuring it allows for a healthy work/life balance so he can escape to nature stress-free!
Watching their journeys inspired me to share what they taught me, and that is, there is no wrong way to live your life unless you’re living it in a way that doesn’t feel authentic or good to you! This lesson is why I got my certification in life coaching and left my corporate job to build my life coaching business, Return To You Coaching! I wanted to help women who feel stuck, create a life THEY love!

What should our readers know about your business?
I help women who are feeling stuck or lost, discover what they truly want in life, career, and/or relationships, so they can chase after their dreams with clarity and excitement.
The majority of the women I work with are either recovering People-Pleasers who have built a life they feel they “should” be living, vs what they actually want to be living or women coming out of a long-term relationship who are struggling to know who they are without the other person.
My program is special because it’s crafted for each individual client. Together we reflect on where they are vs where they want to be, visualize the future they want, and build a personalized action plan for them to get it. And what makes my program extra unique is that during the last month, I teach, and we practice, self-accountability so they aren’t just left on their own after our time together, but they actually have the skills to continue their momentum!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
O man! Where to start!? I am blessed to live near Sloan Lake, so taking a stroll around the lake is a must, and I always make time to stop by Edgewater Public Market to pop into the shops and grab lunch on the patio from one of the multiple restaurant options. Depending on the season, I do my best to bring my friends and family to a Colorado Rockies game, because the stadium is beautiful, the game is always fun, and who doesn’t love Nachos? Stopping at Red Rocks for either a concert or an easy hike around the Trading Post is a fan favorite. I love bringing out-of-towners to hike St. Mary’s Glacier and rewarding ourselves at Westbound & Down Brewing Company. Walking along Larimer Square is one of my favorites, especially if we make it in time for happy hour at Corridor 44 for fun champagne cocktails and parmesan truffle fries! Uncle Ramen is my go-to on a cold night! And Trattoria Stella is my favorite Italian restaurant because it’s intimate yet welcoming and the food is absolutely amazing!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my Shoutout to my original Life Coach, Neha O’Rourke. (Yup, Coaches have Coaches too!)
Back in 2019, she asked me a simple question that changed my perspective on everything, and I still utilize that same question today! – “How is (fill in the blank) serving you?” – How is your relationship serving you? How is your career serving you? How is your routine serving you? How is your budget serving you? How is your fitness regiment serving you? Etc.
Asking this simple question has helped me build a life I truly love because everything is serving me in one way or another. Either it’s making me feel loved, supported, appreciated, strong, steady, present, safe, happy, motivated, energized, etc, or I’ve made the conscious decision to drop it.
I’d love to invite you to ask yourself the same question!
