We asked folks to tell us about their favorite quote or affirmation and to tell us what it means to them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

I have two quotes that come to mind. The first one is by John Ruskin, “You may, in the time which other vocations leave at your disposal, produce finished, beautiful, and masterly drawings in light and shade, but to colour well requires your life. I hail from a long ancestry of Southern Colorado families, who have a deep connection to the land and the history of our state. Growing up with my father’s extensive family on Denver’s West Side was a magical experience, filled with love. Many of my aunts and uncles were gay, and the neighbors who were from faraway places like Greece and Italy shared their stories and food with us. I have two favorite quotes that really inspire how I show up in my coaching and life: “Begin again” and “KISS” — which stands for Keep It Simple, Sally.
“Begin again” is such a powerful reminder that growth isn’t linear, and none of us have to get it “right” the first time. It gives us permission to release perfectionism and show up with compassion for ourselves every time we stumble or feel stuck.
