We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have two favorite quotes that really inspire how I show up in my coaching and life: “Begin again” and “KISS” — which stands for Keep It Simple, Sally.

“Begin again” is such a powerful reminder that growth isn’t linear, and none of us have to get it “right” the first time. It gives us permission to release perfectionism and show up with compassion for ourselves every time we stumble or feel stuck. To me, it’s about resilience and grace — knowing that every moment offers a fresh start and a new chance to choose ourselves. How wonderful is that?!

The idea of giving ourselves permission to ease into change really ties into a phrase I often use: “Keep it simple, Sally.” It’s a personal reminder I lean on whenever life or emotions feel overwhelming. It’s about gently slowing down, cutting through the noise, and focusing on what truly matters. Too often, we make change more complicated than it needs to be, which actually makes it harder to sustain. For instance, instead of diving into an intense workout or investing in fancy gym gear right away, I encourage starting small—like committing to just 10 pushups a day. This kind of simple, manageable step helps build consistency, and that steady progress is what leads to lasting transformation. Rather than pushing harder, “KISS” reminds us to keep things simple so our brains don’t go into overdrive trying to solve everything at once.

I also remind clients to check in with their bodies and intuition because they hold a natural intelligence that our busy minds often try to override. Slowing down and tuning into these deeper signals helps reveal a clear, authentic path forward—one that feels natural and effortless, not forced. So “Keep it simple, Sally” isn’t just about external action steps; it’s also about cultivating inner awareness and trusting the wisdom that’s already within us.

Both quotes reflect my mission at GRLPWRDEN and in my coaching business — to create a supportive community and personalized guidance that empower women to reclaim their personal power through steady, compassionate growth and authentic self-discovery.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My work is rooted in a deep desire to help women come home to themselves.

Through my coaching practice, EmilyBrownConsulting.com, I guide women in reconnecting with their truth, healing from old conditioning, and reclaiming their voice, power, and purpose. I specialize in mindset and emotional clarity work, blending practical psychology with soul-centered support. I don’t believe in surface-level fixes — I work with clients who are ready to go deep, to get honest, and to create lasting change from the inside out.

What sets me apart is that my work is both trauma-informed and spiritually grounded. I hold space with equal parts tenderness and truth-telling. My clients often tell me they’ve never felt so seen, so validated, and so gently challenged to rise. I believe in wholeness — not perfection. I believe that honoring your story is the first step toward transforming it.

I’m also incredibly proud of GRLPWRDEN, a social community I created to give back and support young women. It’s a space where they can be reminded of their worth, encouraged to lead with confidence, and surrounded by examples of what’s possible.

My path here wasn’t easy. I had to unlearn a lifetime of people-pleasing and self-abandonment. I’ve walked through the fire of divorce, motherhood, religious deconstruction, and identity loss — and rebuilt a life rooted in truth, integrity, and alignment. Every challenge has shaped the way I serve. I know what it feels like to unravel and rebuild. That lived experience is at the heart of everything I offer.

One of the hardest parts of running a business — especially as an empath — has been marketing. It’s easy to get caught in the noise, to lose yourself in metrics and follower counts or the pressure to constantly be seen. That’s why it’s essential for me to stay grounded in one-on-one connection — to speak directly to the women who were just like me: craving something deeper, bigger, more true… and just needing someone to remind them it’s possible. That’s my why, and I return to it daily.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is the best — it’s truly the perfect blend of city life and natural beauty, and I always feel so lucky to call it home. When friends come to visit, I love curating a week that shows off the full range of what Colorado has to offer.

We’d kick things off with rooftop drinks and dinner at The Woods on top of The Source Hotel — the views of the Denver skyline and the mountains in the distance never get old. It’s the perfect way to get grounded and take it all in.

Then I’d take them to Washington Avenue in Golden for a sunny afternoon stroll, live music on an open patio, and that charming, small-town energy that makes you want to slow down and just enjoy being. Golden always has something happening, and the mountain backdrop is stunning.

One day would definitely be a day trip up to Breckenridge. Whether it’s winter or summer, the views from the gondola are breathtaking, and the town itself feels like a cozy alpine postcard. It’s a great place to unwind, grab a bite, and just soak up the mountain air.

And of course — no trip to Denver is complete without visiting Red Rocks. Whether we’re lucky enough to catch a show or just hike the trails and take in the energy of the amphitheater, it’s a must. There’s something truly sacred about being there — the history, the landscape, the vibes. It never disappoints.

Between all that, we’d do brunch at local gems like Snooze or Root Down, and wind down with a glamorous happy hour cocktail at Cooper Lounge in Union Station. The ambiance is so elevated and timeless — it makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a classic film.

It’s the blend of sunshine, soul, and scenery that makes it unforgettable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who deserve credit in my story, but first and foremost, I want to dedicate my shoutout to all the women who came before me. I stand on their shoulders — from my older sisters and my mother, to the friends and mentors who have walked beside me. Each one has shaped me in ways both seen and unseen.

But if I had to name one person who truly changed the trajectory of my life, it would be my mentor, Diane Renz. Her depth of knowledge, her unwavering compassion, and her ability to see straight into the heart of things has transformed me. She didn’t just teach me invaluable tools and approaches — she offered me a level of support I had never experienced before. What an utter blessing. I’m forever grateful.

That’s why I’m so passionate about supporting young women — both in my professional coaching work and through GRLPWRDEN. I know firsthand how just a little encouragement, a thoughtful nudge, or someone saying “yes, look at this… try that” can change everything. Sometimes all it takes is one person believing in you to spark a completely new path.
