We had the good fortune of connecting with Abbii Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abbii, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be a makeup company and brand for everyone. I want to provide makeup services, tools, classes, and products for everyone. I want people to remember the passion I have for makeup.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry, I wanted to become a hairstylist. I ended up graduating as a Dental Assistant and working pediatric dental assistant on and off for almost 3 years. I adored working with kids, but I just daydreamed of working with makeup. I started taking makeup on a more serious note and providing services to friends and family in 2016. The day I did makeup for a Quinceañera photo shoot for someone I never met. I was nervous and so excited at once, that’s when I challenged myself to want to provide services for others.
My biggest obstacle was overcoming my self-doubt and to be honest it still gets the best of me sometimes. When I do let it the best of me I get myself out my head with meditation to help me find inspiration.
I’ve learned to start planning looks and packing lighter for when I travel to clients. I have also learned to be open to work any environment, for example doing makeup outdoors. I am open minded to improve my skills and art.
I want the world to know my love for makeup, to know it has always been my art and therapy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d have to start with a day off to catch up! We’d definitely go for a bite! I’d take them to one of my favorite spots like Gunther Toody’s, Umi Sushi, Golden Flame Hot Wings, or Phonomenal. Probably go to a few few drinks and games at Game Control.
Definitely enjoy Mother Nature together with some hikes maybe in Woodland Park.
Probably ending their trip with an adventure downtown Denver.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a huge shoutout to my soul brother Erric for always being so encouraging, supportive, & taking part in quite a bit of behind the scenes work. You are greatly appreciated! A special shout out to Ryan! Owner, Photographer and Videographer of Too Dope Shots media. I can’t forget Tye! Ryan and I met through his client, Tye. Ryan is the one who encouraged me, believed in me, saw me real potential to work more than just my friends and loved ones for makeup. I am so blessed to have met Ryan, to be provided witch such support and love from them. So many others too! My best friends, all the amazing people who follow and support my social media to help me grow and share my passion more each day, and to my family.
