We had the good fortune of connecting with Abe Stopani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abe, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a stay at home dad with kids entering grade school I suddenly had a lot of free time. My wife and I looked at different business opportunities and when we saw AR Workshop we knew it would fit perfectly in Colorado Springs.
What should our readers know about your business?
AR Workshop is a boutique crafting experience. We offer crafting workshops for all ages and budgets. Business has been hard with COVID shutting us down during Christmas last year (when we make most of our money) but with the help of our loyal customers and my crazy smart wife we have been able to keep things going through some lean times. I’ve learned you can’t control everything, You’ve got to let what you can’t control go and just focus on what you can do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado Springs has become such a bustling city with so much to do. I’d have to say I’d make sure to hit our natural wonders first and foremost, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, the Paint Mines. I’d also hit Urban Egg for an amazing brunch, Magnum Shooting center for some world class range time, and take in a movie on the largest screen in Colorado at our Icon Cinema. Of course, we’d have to do some crafting at AR Workshop too. Everyone enjoys making something.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Grace has been the most amazing and supportive partner I could have asked for in starting a business.
