We had the good fortune of connecting with Afton Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Afton, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After being in the medical field for over a decade, I realized that I could help people stay out of the hospital. I was getting burnt out on treating patients after they were already very sick. We would save their lives and in two weeks they would be back; I wanted a way to treat them preventatively and keep them healthy. I knew I couldn’t do this alone. I started Specialty Dripps by Afton to help people get the vitamins and nutrients their body needs to heal itself. With my business model, I have created a platform for nurses who might be burnt out as well, to join my mission in truly helping others. When we are in nursing school, we have the idea that we will be able to help people, and when we enter the hospital setting, that idea rarely comes to fruition. Rarely are we able to make the impact we want to. I have been able to give nurses their voice in helping people in a way that we are able to have the most impact on their long-term health.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I pride myself in being nurse-owned and nurse-operated. Most other businesses have corporate funding, but Specialty Dripps by Afton is ran by the heart and soul of nurses with grit. Our mission is to help people feel good, from the inside out, and with our aesthetic services, we help people look and feel their best and confident. It’s not about being superficial, it’s about feeling good in your skin; being able to work with clients who have scaring or other skin imperfections, and knowing that I can help them feel confident. What we do, and our industry, is about helping people in every way possible, preventatively, affordably, and confidently.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely tell someone to go to Wash Park in the morning, and then stop by my house down the street for a B12 shot and kombucha on the patio!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Halley Cook, she has been so supportive of my mission and has helped my see the bigger picture, been my right-hand woman, and has the right spirit to always keep things moving forward.
