We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Faille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what inspires you?
As a creative, I’m inspired by so many elements – trees changing color, a piece of abstract artwork or a colorful bird and his feathers. Artistically I’m moved by color and lines in my designing. But emotionally I am guided by love stories, courageousness and compassion. I take a lot of my inspiration from the outside world and all the beauty it has to offer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art of choice is floral design. It is such a great medium because of its versatility and infinite combinations of ingredients. I can make an entire arrangement inspired by a photo I saw of a tornado, or a sunset, or jungle. I love to use unexpected color combinations but I’m still learning a lot about color theory. There’s such a vast world out there when it comes to color. I also tend to go very texture forward in my work. My work style is very maximist in a way that I want to include it all! Interesting ingredients are a usual for me as well. I love adding non-floral items to arrangements like feathers, honeybee combs, fruits and veggies or even gems and minerals. I have reached where I am today by consistently pushing the limits on “outside the box”. Always trying to make my arrangements better than the last time, better than I expected and better than the next time. It’s never easy to be artistic with interpretation being so unique to each individual. I know I’m not everyone’s taste all the time, but I have so much pride in my work, and I know that the process is vital to my growth as a woman.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to spend time away from the city. While there are a lot of inspirations in a busy city like Denver, most of my internal reflection comes from quietness and stillness. My mountains are where I find that. Hammocks, beers, and fishing are my Colorado Happy Place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people deserve credit for Parsley & Valentine and it’s success. Gratitude is one of the most important things I include in my daily routine. I’m grateful for the early years of clients and brides who allowed me to do their flowers and explore my skillset. A lot of those early clients are still loyaly with me today. I’m grateful to my family and friends who have been the biggest cheerleaders. From sharing social posts to placing orders – I know my tribe is present in my journey. I’m grateful for my mentor Brenda who started me on this journey or flowering (figuratively and literally!). I would be nowhere without her vision, love, support and friendship. I’m grateful to be a Colorado Native and consistently have a fresh view of mother nature in all her beauty. I re-set when I’m able soak it in. And re-setting allows for more creativity to flow in my work. We live in the best state there is!
