We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Wood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me the happiest is, helping others! I have had so many amazing opportunities to work with women of all ages and backgrounds. I believe that self care is so important to our mental health and in a world that is so fast-paced, we tend to forget about ourselves a lot. I love being able to show young women simple things like styling their hair for school…. Helping them build a confidence in themselves that can carry on into adulthood. Showing new moms quick hair tutorials that not only make themselves feel good but can easily be incorporated into their new busy schedules. Helping others smile is the best part of what I do!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that what sets me apart from others is that I have a true passion for what I do, and I have a lot of compassion for others. I don’t believe that hair color is one size fits all for everyone. I love being able to design a hair color catered to my guests lifestyle, face shape, etc. I think we are all unique and having a hair style/color customized to you is what highlights your best feature, yourself!

Getting where I am took a lot of trial and error, and I’m still learning to this day! I have had my good ideas and my bad. I am thankful for all of it though, it helps mold me as a person and helps me decide what to do differently in the future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love the Northern Colorado area as well as Denver, so a week long trip for me would look like this:

1. Get a permanent bracelet at Dainty in Denver
2. Drinks at Social in Fort Collins
3. Eat at Maggianos on 16th st Denver
4. A shopping spree at Cherry Creek Denver
5. A little trip to Meow Wolf

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family! College would have been the traditional route for me however I somehow convinced my parents to let me go to cosmetology school and I never looked back. They are supportive to every idea I have and always help me see it through.
