We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Yero, M.S., CCC-SLP and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

The most important factor has been staying true to our core values. From the beginning, Brain Gains Therapy Solutions has been about more than just providing therapy. It’s about creating a space where people feel heard, respected, and supported.

Our work is guided by:
• Therapy Gains – We value evidence-based, expert care.
• Family – We believe meaningful progress happens when families are involved and well-informed.
• Compassion – We understand. We’re on your team.
• Honesty – We value and respect your choice in partnering with Brain Gains.
• Trust – We strive to build and maintain your trust, every step of the way.
• Authenticity – Our doors are open. Come as you are, and we’ll do the same.
• Dedication – We are a committed part of your team. We value your time and your effort.

Many people come to us during vulnerable, personal life moments. They may feel overwhelmed, unsure of what to do next, or are trying to advocate for someone they care about. In these moments, they aren’t just looking for therapy. They’re looking for reassurance. They want to know they’re in the right place, that someone is listening, and that there’s a plan to support them.
These values show up in the little things, like how we listen, how we follow through, and how we build relationships over time. They’re what make our work feel honest, connected, and worth doing.

What should our readers know about your business?

Brain Gains Therapy Solutions started with a clear purpose: to offer therapy that actually works, without the fluff. I wanted a practice where care is personal, not prescriptive – and where families feel supported, informed, and respected from day one.

What sets us apart is our approach. We focus on functional, real-life outcomes that truly matter to the people we serve. We listen carefully, collaborate openly, and customize every plan to fit each individual’s / family needs. Whether it’s a toddler learning their first words, a teen working on social communication, or an adult recovering from a brain injury, we meet each person where they are and then build something that works for them. Every session is rooted in connection, not just compliance.

Getting here wasn’t always easy. I didn’t have a blueprint or a business coach. I built this practice from the ground up, relying on long nights, years of clinical experience, and a refusal to accept outdated systems as the only option for patient centered care. Along the way, I’ve learned to trust my instincts, hold high standards, and stay focused on what really matters – helping people communicate with confidence and clarity in order to access their daily life!

The world doesn’t need more generic therapy. It needs thoughtful, personalized care from people who genuinely show up. At Brain Gains, we don’t just help people speak and swallow. We help them feel seen, heard, and supported.

What’s a quote that hits home for you and your journey?

A quote that has always stayed with me is … “God will put you back together in front of the people who broke you.”

This quote resonates with me because it captures something I’ve lived through. I’ve had moments, both personally and professionally, where I was let down by people I trusted. Rather than trying to explain myself or chase closure, I focused on healing. Quietly, intentionally, and on my own terms.

I’ve learned that God’s plan doesn’t always make sense in the moment, but it always leads somewhere better. Often, in ways no one else could have predicted. And when you keep showing up, even when it’s hard, that plan starts to unfold in ways that feel undeniable.

That same commitment to clarity and self-trust is something I carry into my work at Brain Gains Therapy Solutions, LLC. My focus isn’t on the people who doubted me. It’s on showing others what’s possible when you stay aligned, even after being misunderstood.

To me, this quote isn’t about revenge or being watched. It’s about choosing yourself, trusting the process, and knowing that the right people will see the truth, even if they never say it out loud.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

There wasn’t one big turning point or a single person who ‘changed everything’ for me. It’s been a quiet accumulation of small moments and steady influences. A few people believed in me early on, some challenged me in ways that made me rethink how I work, and others showed up consistently in my corner, and reminded me what I’m capable of.

I’ve had clients and families who gave me the space to learn and improve without judgment. I’ve crossed paths with professionals who shared what they knew without ego. And I’ve had friends and family who didn’t always understand what I was building, but still supported me anyway. This has been invaluable.

None of it was flashy, but together it all added up. That’s part of what shaped how I approach my work now. At Brain Gains Therapy Solutions, I try to bring that same quiet consistency: showing up consistently, and creating space for people to grow at their own pace.
