Meet Alicia Osmera | Author, Entrepreneur & Respiratory Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Osmera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was searching for any way to make an additional income. I had previously been involved in many of those “network marketing” companies. I never really made a sustainable income like some of the other people had.
Back in 2015, I decided to start my own blog and I named it; www.connectwithalicia.com. Soon I had gained the confidence I needed to publish my first book Terror In The North Tower.
I began to find other like-minded people to network with. I am still a work in progress and learning from many different people and avenues to find what works for me.
Some of the things that I am the proudest of are being married to my husband Dave for forty years, our three children (who are all grown now) and our eight grandchildren.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always loved reading books about murder mysteries, and love stories. In high school, I started writing short stories, and poems and basically jotting down any ideas I had floating through my head. Later this “love” would turn into my first book to become published.
Terror In The North Tower was published in 2016, It’s medical science fiction, murder mystery with a love story twist. Most medical science fiction/murder mysteries are written by a doctor or nurse, not by a respiratory therapist. My journey started in 2011 after getting laid off from a job loss in DME {Durable Medical Equipment}, After twenty years of working in hospitals, and home health care I was at a loss for what I should be doing.
Finally, I sat down in 2014 and just started typing on the computer. After a year I was finished. The writing was the easy part, finding a publisher was the hard part. I planned on continuing the series that I started back then but life happens and certain things take priority.
As an Entrepreneur, I find myself constantly looking for ways to change and evolve. I am a firm believer that in school children should be taught to have many different streams of income and not just one career. Especially in today’s crazy world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Aurora, Colorado gives me an amazing opportunity to take any visitor to some great places.
Our first stop on day one would be out east as we travel to Watkins, CO. LuLu’s Bar and Grill is best known for being able to cook your own steak. My husband really likes their Rocky Mountain Oysters. YUCK!
Heading back into town we’d make a stop at the 7/20 Memorial for those whose lives were lost in the Aurora Theater shooting on 7/20/2012. My daughter lost one of her best friends during that horrific event. Micayla Medek. May she RIP
On day two we’d head up to the mountains to Black Hawk and Central City to try our hand at some gambling.
Day three would be the Royal Gorge, St. Nicks Workshop, and Tiny Town Colorado.
On day four we’d head over to Los Alcatraces Mexican Restaurant in Aurora. The best Mexican Food in Aurora!
Day five would probably be a day to stay home and relax and just do whatever my guests wanted to do.
On day six I would recommend a motorcycle ride up through Kiowa, Colorado through Elizabeth, and down into Parker, Colorado. Ending up at the Tailgate Bar and Grill for some great drinks and food.
Day seven we’d say our “see ya later’s” and off the guests would go.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to acknowledge my Mother Rev. Barbara Hickock Agnew. She encouraged me always to find joy in things good or bad. She was loving, caring, and patient and always shared her love for Jesus Christ with everyone she met. She died on June 21, 1993, The thing I miss the most with her gone is the 9:00 am phone calls every day.
The day before she died she made me promise to get the book that she had just finished writing published. For the last seven years, I thought that I had lost the transcripts and book cover. I finally found it hidden away in my treasure chest. That will be my next big project.
