We had the good fortune of connecting with Avital Rotbart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Avital, what do you attribute your success to?
Time in a Bottle Photography views its mission as creating and preserving memories that will last a lifetime. We don’t just take photographs, we enshrine precious moments.

Technical skill is an important ingredient in making sure our photos are of the highest quality. Equally important, however, is our interactions with our clients. We make the time to get to know them and understand how they want to feel when they see their photos.

It’s a bit magical, but the more we are able to relate to the subjects of our photography, the better the images turn out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Through the lens of my camera, I’ve grown into a self-confident, successful business owner. When I first began photographing people and events professionally, I was only 15 years old. I was shy and insecure. My camera, however, gave me confidence and gradually, I realized that the people I was meeting and photographing were wonderful and that there was nothing to fear.

In the years since, I’ve photographed literally thousands of adults and children. I especially love shooting kids – not in a studio, but in their homes, schools, and on playgrounds.

I’ve had the honor to photographic many well known personalities, including former President Bill Clinton, and dozens of leading national journalists, entertainers, authors, and politicians.

The lesson of my success is that anything is possible if you set a goal and stick to it. I wanted to work for myself, provide a valuable public service, and create photographs that will endure for generations. It took time, but I’ve achieved and exceeded my expectations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver is blessed with a multitude of wonderful parks and outdoor venues. No friends of mine could come to visit without me dragging them to Red Rocks, Washington Park, City Park, Denver Zoo, Sloans Lake, Botanic Gardens, and Lowry Sports Complex.

I lived for several years in LoDo, and when it comes to restaurants and entertainment venues – especially Coors Field – the neighborhood is unsurpassed.

Every Tattered Cover bookstore is a gem, and well worth visiting.

I’m a huge fan of the East Side Kosher Deli and Mordy’s Falafel. For desert, nothing beats Bonnie Brae Ice Cream and High Point Creamery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I will always be appreciative of the support of Ken Mostek. When I interned at Denver International Airport he took me under his wing. Ken, is a master photographer and a terrific role model, both as a professional and as a person.
