We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Lake Charles, LA but I grew up in San Antonio, TX. I love both environments because they are VERY different and so I like to say I got to enjoy the best of both worlds.
I was raised in a single parent home so I like to say I’ve seen a lot of struggle. From evictions and having to move around a lot to finally getting stable and then practically losing everything during both childhood and adulthood (as a single parent myself), I’d like to say it framed my mind to want better for myself and my children.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe I wear a “coat of many colors” like Joseph in the Bible. Some may even say I “wear many hats”. I have an Online Business Management business. I also act, sing, and write. I am currently pursuing a career in the arts while still running my business and raising children and being a wife.
I am another one who, like all wealthy people, believe you should have 6-8 streams of income. Not all streams have to cause you to work hard but a few of mine do and I’m ok with that.
My journey hasn’t been easy and I experienced so much failure and discouragement as well as disappointment, but I haven’t quit yet and I don’t plan on it. There is NO success without failure. I always say I’d rather aim for the target and miss than never aim at all and that’s how I’ve pretty much lived my entire life. I’m always putting my hands to something new just to see if it will work out and whether it does or doesn’t, I know I’ve put forth effort either way.
I just want the world to always remember THIS face! I also want the world to know that I put my all into everything I do, but more importantly I always put my heart and soul into everything I do. With that being said, I’m always thinking about those behind me and those coming after me!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am all about living your best life, whatever that means for each individual. For me it means living care and worry free and just enjoying life (of course there’s a few boundaries to this, especially with my belief system).
So I am a beachy/island girl all day! The funny thing is I did not grow up near any water!
I love a good beach trip whether it’s in country or out of the country. You’re going to always find me eating seafood so that’s more than likely where I’m taking my guest. Along with our meal we’d more than likely be sipping on something fruity and colorful!
I’m very very picky about my hotels, so of course it’s gonna be 5 star. After we have stuffed our faces, we’d make our way to some sort of hangout that plays live music and just chill and enjoy the vibe (and of course it’d be on the beach duhhhh)!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Jay, best friend Jasmine, my pastors Dr. Lincoln and Apryl Coffie, my children, Coach Cena, and a host of family and friends have all been my inspiration along this journey. All of the above have believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I like to say they saw the REAL me before I really was introduced to her!
