We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Easterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, what do you attribute your success to?
I think one of the most important factors behind the success of my brand/business is consistency. That can be hard in the wedding photography business, especially in the beginning when you’re trying to find your place in the industry. But I think when you show up for your couples consistently, for the venues, for the other vendors, online, etc. you start to build a rapport with people, and those people start telling other people.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career now spans over 13 years, which is mind blowing to me. I’d be lying if I said it was easy. When you own your own business, there are a lot of sleepless nights. Wondering if you’re making the right decisions, if you’re moving in the right direction.
But again, I think it all goes back to being consistent, even when it’s scary. There were many times people told me to get a “real” job doing something I loved. And I remember saying, this is what I love. And I held steady. And that consistency and steadiness continues to pay off.
I think with any business, what sets mine apart from others is me. Each of us are so unique and different, and we all see the world differently, interact with each other differently. When you choose to book with me, you’re getting my unique style and take on your wedding day, the attention to details, the happiness, and the joy of your day. You’re getting someone who cares so much for you and is genuinely invested in not only your wedding day, but your life going forward.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Colorado Springs, and although it’s known for its outdoor beauty, national parks, etc. everyone that knows me knows I’m a bit more of an indoor, city girl. So, you’ll find me a lot of times spending my days in Denver, shopping, photographing in the downtown area, etc.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are SO many people who deserve recognition in my story. All of my wedding vendor friends, whether that be hair and makeup artists, venues, planners, florists, etc. They continue to put my name in front of people and their support and referrals have been invaluable to me over the years. And especially all of my clients, who continue to pass my name along to their family and friends, I would not be where I am today without them, and I am forever grateful for each and every one of them!
