We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Braxton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, how do you think about risk?
Business is all about risk versus reward, and being talented is only a small portion of it. A successful business takes a lot of persistence,a bit of obsession, and a whole lot of blind faith. I’ve invested a ridiculous amount of time and money into things that I didn’t know whether they would pay off, but if you trust in yourself things have a way of working out. One of my favorite music artists, Bumpin Uglies, has a lyric that goes “Living life safe is just dying slow”. When it comes to life my career has become my obsession, and in order to have unique experiences and set yourself apart from others you have to be willing to take risks and fail. You need to learn from these failures and learn to try again and again until you get what you want. I’ve traveled to the same spot almost everyday for one year just to capture a single moment. Sometimes in life you get lucky and you succeed without failure, but it’s failure and risks that set you apart.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
VGP is proud of all the beautiful friendships and followers it has made over the years and so thankful for all the clients that help me thrive. Being an artist and business owner is not easy, there are many individuals out there who are talented and hardworking. To make it today you have to be dedicated to your craft and your clients, communication and authenticity become the pinnacle to success. My style reflects my dedication, you can see the natural beauty of my subjects from landscapes to portraiture. I spend time with my camera and the subject bonding and becoming acquainted with one another. This interaction produces something quite unique, i’m able to develop a connection between the image and the subject, it becomes an immersive moment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As my business has grown I have meet amazing people and made amazing partnerships, but none quite compare to Kat’s K9s. When Kat approached me about joining up and using VGP to generate content for social media in exchange for recommending her services I didn’t know what to expect. She never ceases to amaze me at her talent and her brand promotion of my content and her services. Whenever I have puppy needs she is there to help me out in any way possible. She is a strong woman and notable business owner and I am so happy to have met her!!
