We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Crowfoot and Jason Bra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy and Jason, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of J Street Catering, J Street Food Truck, and Hunje by J Street is consistency—consistency in quality, communication, and the overall experience we deliver across Denver and the greater Colorado area. From the beginning, we set out to raise expectations for what food truck dining and catering could be, and we’ve built our businesses around doing things from scratch, doing them thoughtfully, and following through every step of the way.

For our J Street Food Truck and Hunje by J Street guests, one of the most common reactions we hear is, “That came off a food truck?” That response captures exactly what we aim for. We’re intentional about offering bold, creative menus that rotate frequently, keeping things exciting for repeat customers while maintaining a high level of execution. Our years of experience operating food trucks throughout Denver and Colorado allow us to serve high volumes of food efficiently without sacrificing quality, which truly sets our trucks apart.

On the catering side, J Street Catering has become known for creating food that people genuinely remember. We regularly hear from catering clients that their guests are still talking about the food years later. One wedding couple even told us their guests talked more about the food than the vows—something we still smile about and take as one of the highest compliments. It reinforces our belief that great catering in Denver and Colorado isn’t just about feeding people; it’s about creating an experience that leaves a lasting impression.

With ten years in the food truck industry and more than twenty years of catering experience, J Street Catering brings both creativity and reliability to events of all sizes. We pride ourselves on customizing menus to fit the tone, scale, and purpose of each gathering—whether it’s a corporate lunch, wedding, private party, or large-scale event—while maintaining the professionalism clients expect from an experienced Denver catering company.

Giving back to the community is also an important part of who we are. Across J Street Catering, J Street Food Truck, and Hunje by J Street, we actively support local fundraisers, donate food and services, and partner with other small businesses and organizations whenever possible. This past year, we were especially proud to expand that effort by matching our Thanksgiving Meal Bundles and catering meals one-for-one, resulting in the donation of 850 meals to Feeding Colorado. Being able to connect our work directly to meaningful community impact is something we care deeply about, and it’s a responsibility we take seriously as a local business.

We’re also intentional about dispelling the “flaky food truck” stereotype. Being responsive, prepared, and dependable is non-negotiable across all of our concepts. We want our clients to feel confident from the first inquiry through the final plate, knowing they’re in good hands.

Ultimately, the continued success of J Street Catering, J Street Food Truck, and Hunje by J Street comes from blending creativity with dependability, great food with genuine hospitality, and business growth with community involvement. We’re grateful for the relationships we’ve built across Denver and Colorado, and we’re always excited to welcome new clients, collaborate with local partners, and create memorable food experiences for the communities we serve.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business today—J Street Catering, J Street Food Truck, and Hunje by J Street—is the result of years of growth, learning, and adaptation in the Denver and Colorado food scene. What started as a leap of faith has evolved into a multi-concept business serving everything from food truck events to full-scale catering across Colorado. That evolution has been intentional, and it’s been shaped just as much by challenges as by successes.

Getting to where we are now was not easy. Like many small businesses in the food and hospitality industry, we’ve navigated long hours, tight margins, staffing challenges, and constant change—especially in an unpredictable market. Along the way, we’ve had to learn how to scale thoughtfully, build systems that support consistency, and make decisions that prioritize sustainability over short-term wins. Each challenge pushed us to refine how J Street Catering operates, how our food trucks show up at events, and how we manage growth across all of our concepts.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that longevity comes from doing things the right way, even when it’s harder. Over time, we’ve focused on building reliable processes, improving communication, and creating a business that clients across Denver and Colorado can trust. That approach has allowed J Street Catering to handle complex, customized events while J Street Food Truck and Hunje by J Street continue to evolve creatively without losing operational discipline.

Community has also played a major role in shaping who we are as a business. As we’ve grown, giving back has become an important part of our story. This year, we were especially proud to match our Thanksgiving Meal Bundles and catering meals one-for-one, resulting in the donation of 850 meals to Feeding Colorado. Being able to connect our work as a local Denver catering and food truck company to meaningful community impact is something we value deeply.

What we want people to know about our brand and our story is that we’re committed to building something lasting. J Street Catering, J Street Food Truck, and Hunje by J Street are grounded in experience, care, and a long-term mindset. After nearly ten years in business, we’re proud of how far we’ve come—and we’re excited to continue growing thoughtfully, serving our community, and creating food experiences across Denver and Colorado that people trust and enjoy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If our best friend was coming to Colorado for a week, we’d want to give them the version of Colorado we know and love as natives — a mix of classic experiences, great food, time outdoors, and supporting the local places that make this state feel like home.

We’d start the trip in Denver, easing in with a great dinner at Guard and Grace. It’s one of our favorite places for a polished but comfortable steakhouse experience and a perfect introduction to the city. After dinner, we’d wander around LoDo, grab a drink, and just let the trip settle in.

One day would be all about fun and food. We’d kick it off with something playful at Holey Moley in Downtown Denver, then head over to RiNo for dinner at Hop Alley, which consistently delivers one of the best meals in the city and never disappoints.

Since we’re proud to call Parker home, we’d absolutely spend a day there. Lunch would be at Homegrown Tap & Dough in Parker, one of our go-to spots for a casual, family-friendly meal. Afterward, we’d spend time around Mainstreet Parker, popping into local shops and enjoying the small-business community that makes the town special.

No Colorado visit would be complete without time outdoors, so we’d plan a day at Castlewood Canyon State Park, which is close to home and one of our favorite ways to get fresh air and scenery without a long drive.

We’d also dedicate a day to breweries, starting in Park Hill at Long Table Brewhouse, a place we love and J Street Food Truck proudly partners with. From there, we’d make our way out along the Front Range and beyond, stopping at favorites like New Terrain Brewing Company and Cannonball Creek Brewing in Golden, Odell Brewing Company in Fort Collins, and Outer Range Brewing if we felt like heading into the mountains. That day would be all about good beer, good people, and taking things at a relaxed Colorado pace.

Of course, we’d have to include a true Colorado classic depending on the season. In the summer months, it’s Water World, no question. It’s nostalgic, iconic, and one of those places that surprises visitors every time — massive slides, wave pools, and that unmistakable feeling that half the people there grew up going every summer. It’s pure Colorado tradition.

In the winter months, we’d swap that out for Casa Bonita. It’s one of those places you almost can’t explain unless you grew up here — the pink palace, the cliff divers, the wandering mariachi bands, the over-the-top atmosphere. It’s been a part of Colorado history for decades, and whether you’re going for the nostalgia, the spectacle, or just to say you’ve been, it’s a quintessential Colorado experience that always sparks stories.
To wrap up the week, we’d keep things comforting and delicious. Jason would insist on spots like La Casita and Señor Bear, and if we had time for one last standout meal, Sap Sua would be high on the list. It’s a great way to end the trip on a high note.

And if the timing is right, we’d absolutely build the trip around a game day. We’re huge Broncos fans, along with Nuggets and Avalanche fans, and there’s nothing like catching a game in Denver when the energy is right. Whether it’s a Broncos game at Empower Field, a Nuggets or Avs game downtown, or even a baseball game on a beautiful day just to soak up the weather, sports are a big part of how we enjoy Colorado. It’s another one of those experiences that feels uniquely local and brings people together.

At the end of the week, we’d want our friends to leave understanding that Colorado isn’t just about the mountains — it’s about the neighborhoods, the food, the breweries, the outdoor spaces, and the local businesses that make it feel like home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who deserve credit for where we are today. First and foremost, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of our families, who believed in us long before there were guarantees or clear outcomes. Running a small business comes with long hours and real sacrifice, and having people who encouraged us to keep going made a huge difference.

We also want to recognize the community of small business owners, brewery partners, event organizers, and fellow food truck operators across Denver and Colorado who shared advice, opportunities, and encouragement along the way. Building a business is rarely a solo effort, and learning from others who were willing to be open about their experiences helped us avoid mistakes and grow with intention.

Our team deserves a huge amount of credit as well. Over the years, we’ve worked with people who cared deeply about what they were doing and took pride in being part of something bigger. Their dedication and hard work have played a meaningful role in our success.

Finally, we’re grateful to our customers and clients. The people who took a chance on us early, booked us again, recommended us to others, and trusted us with important events are the reason we’re still here nearly ten years later. Their support, feedback, and enthusiasm continue to motivate us every day.
