We had the good fortune of connecting with Ari Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ari, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is “put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest act. This is the secret to success.” by Swami Sivananda. Every time I try something new or when I’m trying to make a big decision in my life, I think back to this quote. No matter what it is I’m doing, I want to make sure I will be happy and content with that choice and that is what I feel this quote means. It is especially true when I think about what I want to do as a career. I want to make sure I can be happy and appreciative of the choices I made.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am both an artist and a coach. I focus on graphic design and photography, and while I’ve been doing that, I got my certifications to be a private figure skating coach. I have been freelancing designs for friends and coworkers which can be hard on top of my normal busy college schedule, but I love doing them and they always seem to enjoy what I’ve created. With coaching, it is always so rewarding to help young kids find a passion for a new sport and see them progress. I’ve had to learn a lot of patience and time management to be able to do all of this. I’m busy between my various jobs and college schedule so I have to be very aware of my time so that I can do everything I want to. I want everyone to know that I have gone down many paths and reconsidered my plans on my career many times, and it was worth searching because I finally found my passions and am in a place where I get to pursue all of them and make money from it. It was worth the time and various changes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend coming to visit me I would want to take them up to Vail for the week. We would spend time walking around the town and visiting all the shops as well as skating at the outdoor rink they have in the winter. We would make sure to stop at Blue Moose pizza for a dinner, and Les Delices de France for pastries during breakfast. We will spend some time hanging out down by the river. We mostly would spend our time just exploring and trying out the local food spots and visiting the shops.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My coaches, friends, and family. They have been so supportive of everything I’m doing and always encourage me to be the best I can be.
