Meet Ana Maria Duplat | Founder, CEO & Design Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Maria Duplat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana Maria, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe what makes Minibambini a successful brand is that we create personalized spaces for each child. We consider every aspect, from the space available in the room, to what the family wants and needs. But perhaps the most important aspect of all. Is to design the project with the children in mind, so they feel that the space has been created especially for them. A place that they can identify with. We believe every detail counts, the furniture, the design on the walls, the lighting, and the color palette. We like to go beyond conventional brands of children’s furniture since we not only create spaces with design but also exceed our customers’ expectations and transform spaces that allow them to grow and develop all their abilities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Initially, my idea was to produce furniture for children. However, my passion has always been interior design. By analyzing the Colombian market I discovered that there was an opportunity to integrate these two things by creating a unique value proposition.
The most difficult was to position a brand, born from scratch, without any real experience but lots of passion. For this, we had to study different methods and standards. We focus a lot on the Montessori method and our furniture is based first and foremost on safety for children. We have learned to love processes, even if this sometimes implies reprocessing or losing money. We have also learned from each client, how to improve and how to continue surprising them in every project that we embark on.
Currently, we are developing different projects all over the country but recently are offering our design services to clients in the US and Canada, with great results. That makes us very happy and push us even harder to continue growing these amazing project, changing people’s lives one family at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Minibambini is based in Bogota, Colombia. In a city of over 10 million people with plans for all ages and tastes. one of our favority is to go around the block and enjoy the variety of restaurants offering dishes from all over the world. Minibambini is located in one of the most traditional areas of the city in terms of gastronomic offers (Quinta Camacho). If you come to Bogota you can visit us and also enjoy some of the best restaurants in town. Some of our favorites are La Taberna Vietnamita (Vietnamese cuisine), Tandoor Indian Food, Wu Dumplings, and Beer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Minibambini is successful because we work as a team. Every single one of the members contributes to the project by adding value to the proposal and making all these magical ideas possible. This project without them would not be possible. Additionally, our discipline and perseverance have played a key role in the positioning that we have achieved with the brand today. We firmly believe that by working hard, going the extra mile, and creating magical spaces for our customers we will be able to expand the brand through different markets across Latin America and the rest of the world.
