We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When we first moved to Colorado from Canada I wanted to help us out financially but I needed to be free from a 9-5 schedule to help support our family in the transition. I wasn’t sure at first what I wanted to do and over time it became clear to me that I wanted to support families in their quest for wellness. My business now includes yoga for everyone, including restorative, kids, prenatal and postnatal yoga, wellness support for families with natural methods, and postpartum doula work. My business continues to allow me to support the needs of my family as well as the other families I support.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am so proud of my resilience and perseverance. It has not been easy starting a business as a new person in town who is navigating another countries best business practices but I have. I am also proud of the learning that I have done since I started. I have tried to spend time refining and creating best practices for my business so that I can create a better work-life balance. I am a mom first and that has helped me to create a brand that connects with other moms in my target market. I try to be real on all my social media and that allows me to connect on a deeper level with my consumers. No question is off the table for me and if my client asks me something that I am not sure of I will find the answer from a credible and reliable source. Mountain Mama Wellness is all about finding the best solutions for my clients, not one plan will be the same.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a mountain-loving family we have had many friends come and visit us. Depending on the season it would be up to the mountains to ski or hike and take in the beautiful vistas. We also would make time for a visit to Trader Joe’s and Target (remember most of our family lives in Canada) We recently started camping and I can’t wait for our next summer visitors to join us at one of the amazing spots in Colorado. Any activities we do would involve us spending quality time together outside.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a group of women with who I started a mastermind group before covid and we continue to support each other online. Tanya, Kelly and Kristin are all badass mompreneurs who all have different businesses than me but inspire me daily with what they are doing! I also love connecting with other moms on Instagram.
