We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Rahe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I “fell” into this industry 25 years ago as a result of my own severe body pain and complication that were not being addressed or improved by modern medicine -east and west. I studied and learned how to heal myself and formed my company so that I could help other people with the relatively new science of fascia and the resulting technology I created to work with this medium.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
GST Body is a health and wellness company dedicated to advancing the science of body care through movement, providing programs for physical pain & rehabilitation, fitness & conditioning, and prevention + healthy aging. We help bodies of all ages heal, peak physical condition, and age gracefully using fascia – a unique body system that provides the newest scientific advancements in body care, health, and wellness.
One of the things I am most proud of is the personal journey I have taken to heal my self and that from my own pain and health problems, I was able to create something that helps others. Being able to live a life of service is really important.
As a business owner my greatest struggle and my greatest accomplishment has been to work tirelessly to bring a very new, not well-known, or understood product, to a market that is currently overly saturated with trends and misinformation.
The movement and fitness side of the health and wellness industry has not evolved over time with new science like diet and nutrition. Also, taking GST products directly to consumers, rather than other businesses, has been intentional but a slow process because it requires educating the public about what they need to have healthy bodies and live long and vital lives. I am glad that I have taken this challenge although it has been discouraging and dark at times.
Running a business was not my original goal when I started the company, but it has been required of me. I love the creativity and diversity of the work but would also really prefer to do what I do best and let others do the rest. It has been challenging to find people who are as good at what they do as I am at my genius. If I could find these people, the challenges of business would almost disappear.
I would love the world to know that through GST there is a way to heal yourself, physically emotionally spiritually. and this can be done by your self for your self. We are not limited by circumstances in our lives or genetics. There is a hope knowing that incredible change is possible not only for our bodies but also for our lives.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love that Denver is a small big city. There are plenty of things to do in an urban environment that is semi-mulitcultrual. (this coming from a Boulder native who lived the last 20 years in cali- smile . Here are some of my favies and go to’s – denver central market in Rino for coffee, speciality groceries, cheeses
– uchi sushi- absolute yummmmmm!!!
– somebody people – delish vegan food – I am not vegan but good vegan is a treasure to find.
– DAM museum – has excellent exhibitions on fashion textiles and grab a pastrami sandwich at Leeven deli next door and then hit the store Sacred Thistle ( mother/ daughter owned and curated botanical store, fine jewelry )
– mission ballroom for a concert
– day trip to gold hill or brunch at Jamestown
– hike in chautauqua or Annie U white valley / trail in Boulder.
Eclectic living at its finest.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The influences in my life that have helped guide, build and encourage me are vast. My primary book of wisdom is The Urantia Book. It ever expands my concepts of life, the universe we live in and gives purpose to what I do. I am thankful for powerful women like Ashley Wick, a friend and gifted life coach, whose wisdom clarifies and encourages me. I have also been blessed by a mother and father who supported me on my “road less traveled”- non- traditional steps through education and into a fringe field where science meets metaphysics and healing. I am ever so grateful for my business friend and mentor Peter Doyle at Hirsch Precision – his company single handedly made my company’s transition from brick and mortar to digital online e-commerce possible. His excellent mind for business also directed and mentored me. Lastly, I am thankful for clients who trust me with their bodies and partner with me so they are able to live more vital lives.
