We had the good fortune of connecting with Anton & Natalie Pugachevsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anton & Natalie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As individuals, we’re avid outdoors folk, we live and play outside, and we want to make sure that the planet we call home and our stunning public lands are protected for future generations. When we started our adventure elopement photography business we did so as a love letter to the Earth. Not only do we focus our photography around capturing love in beautiful natural settings, as a core function of our business we follow Leave No Trace (LNT) principles religiously and help educate our couples through elopement planning about protecting our lands on their elopement day and beyond. Our couples all sign a Leave No Trace agreement as a baseline. Many of our couples already know LNT and are well-versed in outdoor etiquette, but whenever we are able to pass on the message of how we can all better protect our public lands – we know we are making a difference. In addition to LNT, we are also concerned about climate change, and as a business we purchase carbon credits to offset the impact of our travel. Carbon credits aren’t a direct replacement for driving less or using electric means of transportation, but they’re the next best thing for the time being. In the end, we believe that running a business can make tangential positive impacts to the world if you have the right values.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We don’t just take pretty photos of madly-in-love couples in beautiful places. That isn’t us. First and foremost, we’re storytellers. We want our photography to not only tell the story of a couple’s elopement day, but to represent and tell their love story. In a saturated market with so much talent, finding our voice was anything but easy. The development of our brand took us well over a year, as we had to soul-search for who we were and the message we wanted to project. The biggest lesson we have learned along the way is to value ourselves and to stick to our vision, our values.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When we’re in Denver we love going to check out the Botanical Gardens!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jessica of Caked Imagery started our journey into adventure couples and elopement photography. Shortly after we were engaged we booked her for our adventure engagement session in Yosemite National Park. The experience and photography Jess delivered is something we still strive to provide for our couples today. Thank you, Jess!
