We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Aldred and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am still in college at the Universty of Arizona and am receiving my BFA in dance. This school is extremely rigorous and renowned for their ability to prepare dancers for the industry. I have loved dance ever since I began at the age of 2. I realized that my passion and joy is dance and I wanted to make a career out of it. For me life is about doing what you love and that is dance. I love that my job is creative and athletic. The friendships and community in the dance world is also unparalleled. I would much rather have dance all day than sit at a desk!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dance is a kinesthetic art form which makes it different from photography or painting. I love that dance is not only athletic but also connects you with the audience. Dance allows us to express and tell story’s that hopefully resonate with audience members.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Denver I would take people to Fika coffee house in Parker, it is my favorite coffee shop of all time. Their coffee is so amazing and the location on mainstreet is so cute. I also would take people to Little Man’s ice cream in Denver. Lastly, I would take someone up to Vail as it is gorgeous all year round and even if you aren’t a skier the shops are so fun too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to Starstruck Academy of Dance. Lisa Odell and her staff are truly incredible and have helped me reach all of my goals as a dancer. I would also give a shoutout to University of Arizona as I have seen so much growth in my self as a dancer in their BFA program.
