We had the good fortune of connecting with Aubrey DuMont and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aubrey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, I have always wanted to go off and rodeo whenever I want! Being able to run my own schedule is a nice factor in the equation. If I want to go hit some barrel racing jackpots or rodeos for a few days, I will be able to do that! The fact that I love what I am doing makes it even sweeter.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Rocking A. Esthetics is the name of one of my businesses. I named my business this because I wanted to cater to the western community of cowgirls and cowboys. Most cowgirls are not super ‘girly’, so I wanted to create something that would make them feel comfortable coming and getting services done from me.

Starting anything is not easy, if it was easy it would not be worth it. It is like a graph, it may go up for a little bit, then down, and then maybe stay flat for a little while. Having these highs and lows, whether that is in a business or personal life builds character and toughness in a person. There is a solution for just about everything, it is just up to you to find it.

Going into business for yourself is scary, it sets the bank account back, and sets back other tasks you could be doing in life; but to me, it has one hundered percent been worth it so far.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them out to rope with my boyfriend and I! We could doctor cows and race in the fields on our horses. There is nothing else like it. We would go eat at one of the two mexican resturaunts in my small town; they have the best margaritas!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My aunt Tammy, she is a godsend. I have been riding horses with her since I was little. She got me into barrel racing and bought me my first National Barrel Horse Association card. Tammy has always supported me through all the trials and errors of my life, I couldn’t ask for a better role model and second mother in my life.

Horses are a drug that you can’t ever kick, thats why I started my own business so I can keep that ‘drug’ in my life.
