We had the good fortune of connecting with Kass Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kass, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I believe in my industry; many wellness coaches and personal trainers don’t focus enough on trauma and the overall reasons that bring people to them in the first place. Generally speaking, when someone is looking to grow and learn how to be healthy, past traumas come up from their subconscious. Meaning that if they have little trauma or big trauma from their childhood or current situations and the body is stressed, the somatic memory could be triggered.

During an intense workout our bodies release cortisol which is a chemical that releases during a “Fight or Flight” situation (Trauma response), which could lead a client to feel depressed or bring on anxiety. Most people don’t understand why this happens or what to do.

Being trauma informed in the wellness industry is a key component to helping their clients have a better understanding of their body and mind connection. In the wellness industry we are taught the logistics of our training, but we never discuss what happens when our client walks away from us or an event, such as a yoga retreat, or an intense gym session.

Do you know how many people cry in the shower at the gym or in the car when they leave the gym?

Understanding this will help clients understand their mental well-being in the present while in the gym, on a hike, swimming, or any other physical activity, including breathwork at a yoga retreat.

At Inspired Warrior Project we like to focus on the mental blocks and coaching on the mindset around their day to day life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am honestly proud of myself for recognizing I wasn’t okay and fought for myself to get healthy through fitness and nutrition and it became very clear after going to a yoga meditation retreat where I was triggered multiple times and I worked through it but it was after coming home that event that I knew I wanted to create a space for people to talk about their traumas and integrate from these types of events.

So I created the Inspired Warrior Project because I felt that there was a gap in the wellness community when it came to wellness, mental health and trauma(s). Many coaches aren’t equipped to handle trauma or don’t know how to guide their clients when triggers happen or their mental health shifts.

I am most excited to help individuals become healthy through nutrition, mental and physical fitness while being conscious of their past or current traumas. The founder is a loving, understanding, and driven person who aims to allow others to be vulnerable and honest with themselves.

Through speaking she shares her feelings, emotions, moments of trauma, relationships, break-up, domestic violence, and past sex abuse with hopes of helping just ONE individual. Striving to build a ripple effect in empowering the community, perceptions along with personal growth.
At the age of 13 years old, Kass was pulled from home while on probation, for fighting with her mom about a shirt that had foul language on it. The allegations about being molested by her stepfather raised heads and caused the State of Colorado to revoke her probation and put her in a juvenile detention center to “keep her safe”. From then on, She bounced and ran away from group homes and foster care until she emancipated at the age of 17 years old. Life’s journey and many more traumatic experiences has given her the tools to help others and be a Warrior herself.

Kass has developed an understanding and empowerment through being vulnerable herself. She has worked in accounting, sales, property management and taxes for 10+ years. She continues to strive toward being an amazing, truthful, understanding speaker, listener and life coach through her own traumatic experiences and vulnerabilities. She recently gained her Personal Training Certification and is currently working on a couple more certifications to help herself and others on their journey.

Kass has explored vulnerability, self-love, self-destruction which helps and gives her the ambition to build herself and others within our community. She was a Chapter Coordinator for a women’s alliance in Denver, Colorado. And hopes to create a community for both men and women alike that can be vulnerable and help others grow and overcome their mental health issues due to trauma.

I am currently offering free and paid group memberships, breathwork memberships, 1:1 coaching, which could include life and or health coaching. Not every person is the same so I like to meet with the clients before they start a program to ensure they are getting what they need from me. Whether it is personal training, help with nutrition, or mental blocks in their day to day life. Life can be hard and I believe in helping people and meeting them where they are in their life. Some clients just need feedback to get through life. I am here for all of it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG! I love food and trying new places. SO… This is somewhat hard.

I absolutely love going to the Stanley Marketplace as it has so many options for food. I love Chin Lin for their amazing Ramen and Stanley Beer Hall is a great hangout spot to grab drinks and food. And you cannot pass up Sweet Cow for ice cream before leaving. Did I say, I love the Stanley Marketplace.

But in all seriousness as far as food options, my favorites currently is Esters Oneida Park, Oblio’s, Shell’s and Sauce, Chef Zorba’s and Blue Pan Pizza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my two most recent trauma therapists for being supportive and showing me that I needed to start my journey by loving myself, first and foremost. I would like to thank my best friends Courtney, Lauren, Elyse and Kristelle for having my back no matter what kind of crazy came along with me, including ex’s. Haha! In all honesty,

I would love to thank Mike Guiffre for being by my side through the hardest years of grief, depression, CPTSD and anxiety and loving me the best way he knew how to. Without his encouragement and pushing me in my career and business, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
