We had the good fortune of connecting with August Eslick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi August, how do you define success?
Success can be defined as the achievement of a desired outcome, goal, or objective. It often involves reaching a level of accomplishment or fulfillment in various aspects of life, such as career, relationships, personal development, and happiness. Success can be subjective and vary greatly from one person to another.

I concentrate on achieving success by first defining my goals in writing. Whether they’re small or large, I set a timeline for each goal, take proactive steps towards them, even if they’re small, and celebrate each step forward, acknowledging my efforts in pursuing my aspirations.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artistic endeavors primarily encompass photography, videography, graphic design, and various forms of creativity. I take pride in serving as a social media manager for both my food truck and clothing business, where I infuse my unique style into the designs and artwork I share online. Despite lacking formal training in graphic design or art, I am entirely self-taught. My journey began with creating visual designs for DJs, aiming to see my visuals featured alongside their performances—a longstanding dream of mine. However, after facing limited attention in that arena, I shifted my focus to honing my skills in photography, delving into camera settings and editing techniques. This exploration naturally led me to videography, where I learned to craft high-quality videos and combine various elements into compelling visual narratives for my audience. Creativity has always been a defining aspect of my life, and my next step involves taking classes to further expand my knowledge and gain recognition for the artwork I create, both for businesses and as a form of personal expression.

As I explore different artistic avenues, I found myself drawn to fashion, ultimately leading me to establish my own clothing business, “The Auggie Project.” My mission with this venture is to raise awareness about environmental sustainability in the fashion industry. I aim to educate others about the materials they wear, their origins, manufacturing processes, and their environmental impact. “The Auggie Project” exclusively uses 100% certified organic cotton, sourced from raw materials without the use of chemicals. My hope is to shed light on the alarming accumulation of plastics and clothing in our landfills. Without intervention, the consequences of this trend will only worsen over time, potentially reaching a critical point of irreversible damage.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever I have family or friends visiting, I enjoy planning outdoor activities, dining experiences, and city exploration. For hiking, I typically opt for relatively easy trails like Garden of the Gods, Roxborough, or Flatirons Vista. When it comes to dining, I gravitate towards marketplaces such as Stanley or Denver, or I seek out food trucks for a unique culinary experience. In terms of city exploration, I like to visit places like botanic gardens, museums, downtown areas for leisurely strolls, or participate in local activities happening during their visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Several individuals have profoundly influenced my life and provided invaluable support during times of success.

Firstly, my friend Scott Towles played a pivotal role. When I relocated to Colorado, Scott was the first to offer me a job. Over the course of a few months working together, we forged a strong connection and shared similar aspirations. Together, we brainstormed ideas for realizing our dream of running a food truck business. Through years of networking, learning, and growth, we achieved our goal and elevated our business with our food truck “Taysteful Fusion.”

Another influential figure is George Vandenbosch, who has been a father figure to me. When I needed a place to live and support to get back on my feet, George took me under his wing. He imparted invaluable life lessons, particularly in small business ownership, finances, and investing. George embraces me for who I am and wholeheartedly supports the goals and lifestyle I pursue.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has witnessed, accepted, and continues to love and support me on this journey. Your unwavering support has been indispensable, and I couldn’t have come this far without you. Each of you has left an indelible mark on my life, and I deeply appreciate your efforts.
